Default Wheel refurb pics

Just thought I'd share with you some pics from my recent wheel refurb at Lepsons. I decided to have the standard 05 wheels refurbed as they were looking corroded and scuffed in places from the previous owner (I won't mention the big chunk I took out of one when I hit a kerb that was sticking out... ).

Thought a lot about what colour to go for, should I go for standard or something else, should I go for a dark colour, etc, in the end I went for Black Chrome after seeing the finish on some other cars but liking the fact it wasn't too dissimilar to the standard finish. While the wheels were away I gave the calipers a coat or 3 of black paint.

Took wheels into Lepsons in Gillingham, 7-10 days later they were ready for collection along with a brand new set of Toyo T1-R Proxes. The quality of work IMO was excellent, the finish is probably better than new and there was no sign of the chunk out of the wheel, and of course the colour was stunning! Good job Lepsons!

How they were originally, note the budget tires on the front

Giving a coat or two of wheel sealant

The backs of the wheels in black

A few close ups

Only problem now is I think the car could do with being lowered 30mm so I may look at some lowering springs or coilovers in the near future First I have a couple of dents and paint marks to rectify

Just needs a black "H" sticker in each centre cap to complete the job. They do look good.

They look really good! I wonder how the 16" 5 spoke rims would look with that colour combo...

If you don't mind me asking, how much did that run you for just the wheel painting?

Yes I need to get some black 'H's, I'll have to find some on eBay!

Lepsons charged £65+VAT per 17" wheel for this colour combo + 1 weld for £10 which I considered pretty reasonable really especially when the wheels come back in perfect condition!

For the last 2 hours I have been trying to track down a place in California that will paint my wheels this exact same color.

I'm sorry for all the questions but is this a simple spray+clear, or powdercoat?

Of all the places I've read, "black chrome" is a common powdercoat process as they just spray a translucent grey powdercoat onto a chrome rim. If yours indeed is just a regular paint job however, I must know what it's called and where i can get it done. if you dont mind

Some places also call it smoked chrome

I would be abusing my wheels if I didn't take the chance to post a little picture
