Default Why do we put up with it

OK, we all know the excitement we get when hitting the red line..I would have said 9k, but in the 2005 model thats's been reduced. We love the rush when people will stop and stare at the motor that's literally screaming its head off and the incrdible handling. But what are we really getting for nearly 30k's worth of motor?
I've just got a 05 model, and immediately I noticed a whine in 4th gear when accelerating. Decelerating, or when the clutch is down there is nothing...so whats going on?
I read the items posted on the forum, and its seems like its a persistent and common problem, with some other lucky owners saying its normal! This is happening on every model it seems, so how come nobody has done anything about it. When I drive my girlfriend's beetle (an I'm not happy about that either), I don't get a whine. When I drive a 30k race car inspired motor with a reportedly finest gearbox in the world, the only goddamn whine I expect to hear is from said girlie next to me!
And whats with the dodgy gear changing?
Is it just me or should we all be expecting just a little more? Clutches slipping, sticky gear changes. Again this is normal, apparantly.
One reader's suggestion was to wait a second before changing into second...so its normal to have to wait a second whilst changing gears was my girlfiends reply, when I had to tell her...
So just when do we manage to get from 0-60 in six seconds? If I have to wait a second whilst changing gears....
I think Honda have a hell of a lot of explaining to do! To me anyway.

Have you ever driven a race car - all manner of mechanical whines and cluncks! The S is the same.

If you dont like this, by a Lexus!!!

I'm sure Michael Schumakers Ferrari is a perfectly quiet ride with no whining or clunking of gears...

Eh? Where do you get that idea from?

Other than a problem with failed synchros, which Honda replaced under warranty, I've never had any complaints about the gearchange in either my 02 or my 04.

Either your car, or you is faulty

For starters, any non-US car, whatever the year, should still rev to 9200.
You shouldn't have paid

Lurking lawyer, I'm not sure where your confusion is..check a search on gearbox, and you'll see the number of problems people are having.
Now don't get me wrong guys...this is one fine car! I don't want to drive a Toyota (Lexus is T owned) I want to drive what everyone says is one of the top performing cars in the world..my argument is if I said, bought a boxster s for example (only an example, I don't want a hairdressers car) would he be putting up with a reported problem from every single model. Would Porsche not have addressed the problem?

I wasn't confused by the gearbox problems you mention (although, as I say, they don't mirror my own experience in almost three years of owning 2 S2000s).

My query was in relation to your comment about the reduced redline in the 2005 model. It's still the same F20C it has always been and still revs to 9,000rpm. The US car switched to the 2.2 litre F22C in the MY04 but that hasn't affected Euro S2000s.
