Default Windscreen marks

I'll try and explain this but I probably need to try and get a picture - here goes.

In heavy rain with a clean windscreen inside and out (son is a detailer!) when looking out through the screen I could see sort of semi transparent zebra stripes running down the screen, almost as if they were part of the glass.

Nothing cleared them until the screen dried then they disappeared but came back when the rain started again.

Seriously affected visibility as the screen was only really clean between the stripes.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Is it the original screen ??
Could be some form of lamination !!

I've had this since I got my car, although it has got steadily better. I'm wondering whether it was run-off from the roof protectant that I use. Either way, it's friggin impossible to remove with any kind of solvent/soap/glass polish etc.

Has someone previously used RainX or silicon wipers ??

Try either the glass cleaner from RainX or one of these cutting type ones.
If no luck then I would suggest as above the marks could be in the laminate sheet.

I dont have any record of the screen being changed in the service history and have only had it a couple of months myself. Its a relief to know I'm not alone though.

I'll try the Rainex stuff.

This seems to be a common problem with the rubbish insurance companies force you to stick in the hole on your car.

You'd think it was the lamination, but it is a surface problem on the glass; either they're floated on oily or dirty water or something.

Do not put RainX on it; it makes it worse.

Karen had that problem with the Civic; I even tried Porter Cabling it with glass polish, yet it still went greasy/smeary in the wet. The Prelude's is more raked, shot full of holes & has had metal wipers used, yet wet-night visibility was STILL superior.

The Civic's windscreen got broken, and the new one still slightly has zebra stripes as the wipers cross it, but it's within the realms of sensible.

I'd have a little accident with a stone if I were you!
