James,

I have a MY2002 - I have experienced some buzzing from the engine when decelerating, but at higher revs than you stated. My buzz comes in around 5.5k down to 4.5k RPM. It's quite a high pitched buzzing (similar to a bumble bee noise) - is that how you would describe it? If so, I've got the same problem on the 2002 model.

Mark, could be but I thought that it was sorted on the newer 055 clutch, which I assume was fitted to your car ?????? Will you be going to the drink that IanL is sorting, one of the other owners could listen to it for you.

Frisky, I take my to Marshalls of Reading and am well pleased with the service that I received there! Keith on the Service Desk is very friendly and (to-date anyway) honest!

Thanks Mark!

Depending on when it is (??!) I will try and get along to IanL's gathering and get some sound advice!

As Steven says, you'll find LOADS of stuff on this in the UK forum. Just search for it. But, in short...

The noise is almost exactly at 3,500 rpm and it sounds like you have loose heatshields or something loose around the exhaust in the centre of the car as you decelerate through that point.

The noise is caused by vibration due to the design of the clutch springs and is prevalent on all 00MY and 01MY

There is an "055" clutch plate with redesigned springs which cures the problem. AFAIAA this 055 plate is fitted standard to 02MY cars so if you have an 02MY with a funny noise, it won't be because of this.

I had my March 00MY clutch-plate changed under warranty 10,000 miles ago and have not suffered with the noise since

CLUTCH.

Well I first noticed mine at the Supermeet, the hotter the car got the louder the buzz. As has already been said most noticable when you a decelerating from around 4k down. The dealership did not even ask to check the car, as soon as I mentioned buzzing sound they agreed the work - did not even wait for approval from Honda, so it is a well known issue.

REAR SCREEN

Two issues with this, the first and main issue was that occasionally when I went to drop the top it would not fold correctly, the only way I can describe it is that it would buckle, this would mean I would have to get out of the car and smooth it off before lowering the hood the rest of the way, very annoying as you did not want to lower the roof at traffic lights incase this happened .
The second problem was although I have cared for the screen from the day I got it (Plexus all the way) I have in the bottom third of my screen a line forming where the roof touches the screen while it is down, think it is where I don't have the cover on it the wind crates movement in the hood which in turn results in the screen being scratched. Had to wait about a week for Honda to approve, again the dealership have not seen the screen, so must be a known issue

But on the whole pleased that they have agreed the work without to much grief

Look forward to getting the car back and getting rid of the buzzing

I also get this and I have thought that it is because my rear screen isn't exactly tight fitting anymore.

Back to Norton Way soon methinks
