Default WTF

Hey folks,
Got a friend of mine,a mechanic,to give my car a service and a check over, basically because im extremely busy lately and havent really got time to do it myself. He told me all was well and that all he did was change the oil and oil filter.
A day later i started to notice my car isnt picking up its revs as quick as normal and when it hits vtech it just didnt have the same punch.
I found out the oil he put into it is 'Ford Formula E High Performance Fuel Economy Motor Oil SAE 5W-30' and not 10W-40 like in the manual.Could this be the reason why??

Also got new tyres fitted for the front,215 35 r18 and now when i brake doin about 60mph or over it pulls to left.Isnt really noticable at low speeds. The brakes were perfect before i got the tyres changed.Any ideas??

oil should be ok , its just thinner than 10/40 i take it you have checked the dipstick to make sur ether eis enough / not to much in there ?

also was it a proper honda filter ? i have read they are quite picky with oil filters... also worth cehcking the air filter take the lid off and make sure when you accelerate its drawing air in without stuttering,

with the tyres - they are quite large - has it always had big wheels on like that ? may be worth getting a geo done to make sure all is as it should be

Your grade is ok. Prefer 5w 40 myself.

Check the oil level - VTEC depends on pressure and therefore needs a good level.

RE the tyres - are they the same size you had on? Have to expect some ill effects when using tractor size wheels!

Yes the oil level is good and it is a honda filter that is in it.The air filter would be worth checking alright as i have the air box lid removed. But on visual inspection it doesnt look to bad.

As for the wheels they were on it since i got the car and i had a geo done about 2 monthes ago.Just find it was strange that as soon as i got the tyres changed my braking is affected like that.I have 225 40 R18 on the back. The different tyres on front and rear would hardly have that effect would it??

The reason i got different ones for the front is because i got them at a good price

Not sure if it matters but your front wheels are now about 30mm less in overall diameter and the sidewall angles will be slighly different (how wide are your wheels?). Also means the car is sitting 15mm closer to the road than when you had your geo done? Ride may be harder too.

No idea if its makes a difference just an observation.
