Three reasons:

It looks hilarious with that ridiculous grill- like a Hyundai (on bromide )

BMWs are German aren't they?

9000+ rpm?

Not bl**dy likely

Yes I would buy one......if i didnt already have an S2000
It looks great and has a great engine, and im sure it will have a huge smile factor when driving it.
However, in 2 years they will be as common as muck...but it will still be a great car.

I was fortunate to test drive one just before Christmas (in Tampico, Mexico) - the salesman was a great man - he drove it 1st and then let me loose - 230kph on Mexican roads

It really, really is a very nice car to drive.

Would I buy one......errrr......no!

Why - inverse badg snobbery I am afraid - its that nasty blue and white propellor badge and all that goes with it

I don't think Chris Bangle went far enough on the styling personally - it's a good looking car up to the front grill, where it falls into the 'just another Beemer' trap of the saloon front end (like the Z3). It strikes me that they had a more radical front end planned, then one of the BMW suits stepped in and said "Ve must haf ze corparate front on zis car" and it was slapped on as an afterthought. Shame, because ti could have really stood out.

Would I have one, no.
a) It's still based on a saloon car I believe.
b) Too many will be bought for the badge and the car will be as tarnished as it's predecessor.
c) No-one will let you out of junctions driving one.
d) I indicate before I change lanes, I'd have to learn not to if I drove a BMW.
