I almost got into a bar fight with one of my buddies from work. He pulled this one out of his ass and said we S2K guys think our cars are worth too much. He then went on saying one of his buddies pulled this ad up. I told him a used 00' are going for $16K. He then proceed to tell me ( after another round of beers, which I bought mind you), again, everyone thinks their cars are worth more than the going value. I agreed with him on this, but not at $9K!

He drives a 01 330 and still thinks he can get $28K. Now wheres the logic in that!
He's a pretty damn smart engineer, but I think the beers make him stupid.

The ad seems like a typo......off by 10K

I responded to the ad. We'll see what that may uncover.

Earlier this year, I came across this on craigslist:
=================================================
2002 HONDA S2000, 18,549 mi, air bag, abs, ac, ps, cc, p/seats, p/windows, am/fm, pdl, p/mirrors, Contact me for any infos at xxxxxxxxxxxxx @ yahoo.com, $6,000, 630-xxx-xxxx

Driver Air Bag; Anti-Lock Brakes; Air Conditioning; Alloy Wheels; AM/FM Radio; Cruise Control; Compact Disc Player; Passenger Air Bag; Power Seats; Power Door Locks; Power Mirrors; Power Windows; Power Steering; Side Air Bag;
=================================================

I responded to it like I did this one, and he actually wrote back saying that he's selling it because he is going to stay in the UK and don't need the car in Lemont, IL anymore. But when I emailed to to ask for the VIN, he never replied.

The guy responded to my email. Here's exactly what he said:

"I've got this car 2 month ago and I can't register a US model here in Spain.. do not know why.. I just want to sell it back to US because I can't sell it here ..
It's a great car. It has never been in an accident and there is no damage.
hope you can help me! miles : 47694 Clear title , 2001 2nd owner"

Scam. My old room mate tried to score a STi from Greece like that. Guy gave him the song and dance over the internet. It's getting popular again, sadly.

I won't go to the extreme of labelling this a lemon, stolen, or an outright scam. But I will say, if a deal is way too good to be true, it most likely isn't a deal.
