Your going to hate me for saying this but, I hate getting behind a motor cycle on the dragon or other roads. The crotch roackets scare the day lights out of me and the others are so slow on the bends it drives me crazy.
I'm glad vintage is in. We'll look at the maps this weekend and wait to hear the dates to see if it works for us.

We have taken the time to look at the maps. Seems like there all sorts of scenic routes in that area. I do hope they are as much fun to drive as they are beautiful.
We reckon it will take us about 10 hours to get there, we are near Lake St. Clair, so it will very much depend on the dates you set as to whether we can join you. We would like to.
There is another plan in the works to drive along Lake Michigan so I hope they don't occur at the same time.

I'm totally open about dates, since I'm the one who's closest to the drive. The key issue might be whether its on a Saturday or Sunday, since there's such a long drive involved in your getting to the area and back.

May is wide open on the UMW calendar. How do people feel about the weekends of May 12 or May 19? Or else this alternate idea - since it seems like you're really interested, how about you pick the weekend? No one's likely to be farther away than you.

I don't know where I'll be working this summer yet and school gets out first week in May. If my plans work out, I will be too far away to make the drive, so can we schedule it for April? Let's say April 15 or 22?

Check the UMW calendar. Tail of the Dragon is April 15. Anyone who's attracted to that won't want to do April 22 either. That's why I suggested May.

BTY, what is your field of study? What kind of work would you want to be doing?

Is there anything wrong with the April 29 date then?

I'm studying computer science. Hopefully this summer I will be the IT intern at a Fortune 500 company.

The vintage group have a meet in VA May 5-7. This is a great group of people. You need to be 40yrs. to join but there are quite a number of pre-vints (under 40) involved - check the thread out.

With WTD in April and VA in May we would favour the end of May, 26 or 27 (27 is Memorial Day) OR June 23, 24. At this point we are still flexible. I'm guessing the Lake Tour will be in July. (Have a look at Detroit sightings 2006, almost last page)

Steve, it's your idea, you get to set the date. TACH

Sounds like it might be fun.

But please set it late enough in spring or early summer so there is no issue with temperature, for summer tire adhesion and top down running.
