Default anyone heard of this before

went to motorwerks to drop off the s for some service and i decided to take a stroll upstairs and see what they had. saw a black slr, a gallardo, the cayman for the first time which i wasn't feeling at all. but i seriously fell in love the the 911 carrera s. anyway they had a boxster s with navi there that had a phone keypad on it. i figured you had to get a line of service for the car and was like who cares, who has car phones these days anyway? but the salesman popped open a slot for a gsm sim card so you could use your regular # with all your contacts. those crafty germans.

Don't know about the SIM card being used directly with the car (why not use Bluetooth?), but did you see the Cayman at Motorwerks?

I'm not typically a big fan of Porshes, but the Cayman looks great in person.

It is cheaper to provide bluetooth than integrate a GSM radio into the vehicle.

Those crazy Germans. Always wanting to do it the hard way.

I imagine they also decided to use the simcard so as to not wear down the battery in your phone faster as well.

oh and i must say that gallardo is a facking beautiful piece of machinery. i'm more of a ferrari fanboy myself, but you really can't beat the gawk factor on those lambos.

the 'rents E500 + 745iL both accpted sim cards. it's MUCH better than the onstar system where u gotta refill your onstar account

FWIW, Porsche. there is no substitute. Porsche > *. Boxster/Cayman > S2K.

The day I either trade in or sell my S for a 911 turbo will be a sweet sweet day.... if that day ever comes...

I saw a Gallardo parked at woodfield a few weeks ago. In a normal spot, with dirt and salt all over the damn thing. My kinda driver. Not going to keep a car in a cage its entire life. Although I woudn't dare park it between minivans like that guy did....
