I usually try go on at least one camping trip a year, but with the move and the arrival of a newborn I realize it's not gonna happen this year with my family.

So howabout a group camping trip? Leave on a Saturday morning, go on a nice drive, camp out saturday night then head home Sunday afternoon? I know I can fit a tent, sleeping bag and supplies in my trunk if it's just me in the car.

If there is enough interest I'll start planning it for a weekend in late August.

Oh yeah, I forgot. Road America has tent camping within the carousel - turns 8-11.

We could camp there and watch whatever club is having an event that weekend. If not you guys can figure out a nice place.

 

It's short notice, but August 5-8 is CART weekend at RA.
August 19-22 is the RA 500. That should be a fun event, for an extra $50, you can take a couple of laps in your car durrning the lunch time touring.

Or, out toward Starved Rock would make for a fun drive, and I am pretty sure there is camping out that-a-ways.

I am interested, I have not gone camping at all this year either.

 

I'm in....depending on what weekend in August it is (I'm not free Aug28th weekend).

Here in the midwest, camping season goes all the way up to late October. There are many great camp sites in southern Wisconsin, Easter Iowa, Northern IL, and if you're up for a REAL drive, many sites up in central and northern WI.

Please keep me/us informed. I'd definitely be up for this (BTW, is this a trip for the significant others, or men only?)

 

Could be men only or spouse girlfriends, or both. My wife is definately out unless we find a local babysitter for a weekend. I'm going either way. I like the idea of middle Wisconsin, pine trees and camping go hand in hand.

If we do a leave early Sat. morning thing that leaves plenty of time to get to a lot of places.

Shawn....this isnt just an excuse for you to get some fishing in is it? Camping by some lake in the middle of nowhere!! Well...if it is..count me in on that too!
