Autocross with NASA
For the past few months I've been helping getting National Auto Sport Association Autocross (NASA-X) started in the Midwest. You can find details here: http://www.nasamidwest.com . Just click on Garrison's car
Right now we have 4 events schedule at the awesome Tire Rack facility and hope to have more a bit closer to Chicago. We're setting this up like no other club in the region. Some of the difference I'm most looking forward to are:
1/2 day events - our events are split up into a morning event and an afternoon event - each with at least 6 runs. You can choose to run morning, afternoon, or both. We thought that would help those who either have work in the afternoon, like to sleep in, or just don't have the time to spend an entire day racing.
The ability to opt out of your work session. - some days you just don't want to work. You'll have the option not to for a small fee.
Highly competitive classing - this is my favorite. Our classing is very similar to the NASA Time Trials classing I've competed in the past couple of years. Basically you start off with a base class and all your mods are assigned a point value. After a certain number of points, you move up from your base class to a higher class. Sounds complicated at first, but it makes sense once you start going through the rules. I can definitely help classing S2000's. The benefit of this is 1 small mod won't pit you against a fully prepped Corvette. You're free to mod as you like and end up in a class that suits your car.
We have a bunch of other small differences that I'm excited about which we'll share with you as soon as they are finalized.

Tire Rack (one of the largest tire retailers) is located in South Bend, IN. They have a small track that they use for tire testing and reviews. We should be able to set up some pretty cool course designs here.

100%After all, if you're using my car to promote it, I had better show up, right?

Pat, Austin, or someone else familiar with NASA, would you mind going ahead and posting up the point system for S2000s? I think it'd be really helpful to have our base point level, as well as the point values for the "most popular" mods you would expect to see on S2000s of people who are interested.
