I like running brakes instead of breaks...although I did break a set of brakes recently.

If you race your car, we can open up that can of worms discussion. But otherwise, oem pads and oem (or napa or whatever) rotors work fine. What makes you think you need new brakes? Are you looking for pads, rotors, or both?

lol i fixed the spelling error, wow I duno what my mind was thinking, haha.

I bought the car with 47k miles on it and the previous owner said he never changed them. I thought it might just be smart to change them.

I don't plan on racing until I have a more stable job and I am finished with school (next summer). So I wont really get into that aspect of it.

It doesn't sound like you need to replace the brakes right now. Save your money, you'll gain nothing by replacing them now.

however, how long do normal brakes last? I haven't run oem's in forever...and when I did, I wasn't treating them very well. Might want to check on them before you decide to change or not to change them.

There's no way to know for sure until you check them
