Default Chicago

Hey guys how's it going,

My name is Esteban and I have had an S2000 for a year now.

A little about me,

I was born in Chicago and lived most of my life in the Northwest side (Humboldt Park and Austin neighborhoods) Moved to Cicero Il and went to high school there. Graduated in 08 and went to the University of Illinois in Champaign. Got tired of the liberal politics involved with the school and enlisted in the Marine Corps. I EAS Oct. 2014 and plan to go back to school and then open a business.

This is my 5th Honda. I've owned a 90 Integra LS, 91 CRX Hf, 91 CRX Si (My favorite), and my current 2003 BB S2000. The s2000 was my poor mans dream car (meaning it was perfectly reasonable to own one.) and my rich mans dream car is a newer NSX.

I am stationed in Jacksonville, NC but am currently deployed so my car is stored. I decided to buy an S2000 because I have had a history of my cars getting broken into (in Chicago). Not many S2000's in Chicago so I figured I would have a safe car. Boy was I wrong, I went on Pre Deployment leave in Novermber 2012 and my s2k was broken into. Broke the ignition, ripped the top, stole my V1 radar detector, and my Skunk2 shift knob. Total of 5k in damages, i don't think they took my seats because they are in bad condition.

Anyway I was pretty involved in the CRX community and even went to the CRX meet in Niagara Falls in Canada. It was fun and I hope to meet more S2k owners in the area for a similar mature and enthusiastic group as were the crxcommunity.com guys. I'll try to post pics of my AP1 later.

Welcome to the UMW!

Definitely let us know when you get back! As Sam said, there's always things going on in the Chicago area. Sorry to hear about your car getting broken in to. Sadly, our cars have become popular theft targets like much of their Honda brethren.

Yeah, ever since I caught two in my CRX, I have been very paranoid. The one night I left the S2000 outside my mother's house this happens. I was parked under a tree with no leaves on it and I looked at my top from a distance and thought there was just a leaf on it...but then I thought "wait a minute, there are no leaves on any of these trees!"...and sure enough top ripped and they tried to force it open manually, luckily they were clearly too weak to do it. First thing I'm getting when I get back is an alarm...still sucks that I had to pull 500 for my deductible.

Oh yeah, addition to my originaly post, I owned a 2000 Prelude SH...super clean too...go rear ended 3 months after I bought it. Sucks because I had parts ready to go into it.
