i'm also right by wrigley field. i drive to work and back, and if i go out somewhere in the suburbs or something on the weekends. my spot is $135/month. i wouldn't live anywhere else, though...i would die of boredom in the suburbs i think.
my parents are from naperville, and i lived there for 18 years (minus 4 for college i guess). really nice city, but it's pretty conservative and boring. it's like the suburb of all suburbs. not really. but it's up there.

I live on the Northside of the City... right by Wrigley Field. I don't drive ANYWHERE. I always take a bus, train, taxi... or walk. The only time I drive is when I'm going out to the suburbs or to a race.
2 parking spots = $200/mth

You call it conservative and boring. I call it quiet and crime-free.
My apartment complex is a melting pot: Asian, caucasian, african-american, Indian, you name it. And not a single problem with either car in the parking lot.

And I'm three blocks from the train station. If I worked in the city, it would be a short walk to the station, and then a nap til I reach the city.

also, i kind of like to drink a lot. i'm probably out like 4 days a week on average. for an average friday or saturday night...
train from naperville to chicago: ~45 min., $5
plus getting to your final destination ~10 min. + see below
*or*
walk to one of many bars on southport and clark: 1 - 15 min., $0
walk + el: ~25 min, $2
cab anywhere within 10 min.: $5 - 15
...not to mention you have to do the same thing on the return trip. so multiply time and cost by 2.
naperville has...a few bars, no clubs. very little live music. 1 college for sports games? at least there's a few ice rinks there. i haven't found one in chicago yet. not to mention it's so spread out being in the suburbs.

Hope the new job's going well.
I guess that's why I like this area so much. I'm only an hour, at most, to Chicago. So everything I could ever want is right here. But to each their own.
