Club Membership
I would like info regarding membership. I live in the ILL. / Wisc. state line area, 65 miles +/- northwest of Chicago. Ya in Harley & Pick-up exurbia. I bought the S 2000 last year, put a whopng 300 miles on it so far, I'll probably be taking it out of storage this weekend.
I've been reading some of the chat, I can't believe people inquiring about buyibg them in the Chicago area for less than MSRP. The only dealer around here (McHenry County) had two (both black) with all the dare I say (crap) on them which I didn't like, for around $ 40K. So I bought mine on the internet (brand new w/22 miles on it) and had it shipped.
First timer so now I'm looking for the send button

Welcome,
Check out this thread which explain's the 'club' stuff. https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=42997
It's not necessary to be a club member to enjoy most of things offered on this site such as information sharing and attending any local or area functions. Last I heard there was only about 100 dues paying members, so don't feel you have to pay to play. As one of the 100 paying member's maybe I should be pitching it more but I think that's entirely up to you to decide.
Get that car on the road and get enough miles on it so you can VETC it!

Thanks for your advice dlq04. One of my brothers lived right by you in Grass Lake, MI. If my memory serves me exit I-94 at mile post 150, Mt. Hope Rd.
His wife entertains clients at the MI. Int'l Speedway, (the Co. she represents has a sky box there) she's the sports nut in their family. She's such a die hard Chicago fan she travels (by herself) to Chicago several times a year for Cubs games, during football season she bleeds orange and blue. (Da Bears or the Illini) The wife and I travel to Lansing, Ann Arbor or Champaign in the fall to meet up with a supplier I have from Flint. (where ever the Illini are playing State or Big Blue that year) My supplier's husband never ceases to amaze us, he can spot us in a crowd of 100,000 people, jump in front of our vehicle and wave us into a parking space for a little pre-game tailgating.
I guess I'm getting off the S 2000 subject a little, but I had noticed by your Bio you were from Jackson, MI. I was just letting you know I was somewhat familiar with the area.
You'd mentioned your toys, my toy box is getting a little over filled, I've got 99 GMC 4x4 short bed sport side pick-up (that I hardly drive, my excuse in getting it was in case of inclement weather) a Harley I've only put about 250-300 miles on (my excuses are I don't like traffic-everybody's in a hurry, I like back roads but only after the sand from the winter is completely off the intersections I don't want to loose it in a slide I don't want it sand-blasted I don't drive at nights because of the bugs like any Harley it has to be spotless (and it is) I've got a Mercedes 450 SLC (not fast enough so it sits) and now the S 2000 (destined only for back roads and sunshine / God forbid I get raindrops on or bug splater on it) I won't mention the Boat, Sno-mobiles, ATC'S or any of my wife's other annoyances, she just doesn't understand "Boys & their Toys" She's a Slot Machine Junkie, do I complain Noooo, but whats fair is fair.
Hey wake up (I know I do that to people)

rice s nice,
Ya, I'm close to Grass Lake. In fact, I got pulled over in the S2000 by a county mountie near there last summer. Just a warning; he just wanted to hassle someone.
Since I'm from PA and went to college in IN, I don't have the ties (or interest) to the Mich State vs Blue vs anyone else stuff. But my son is a big Blue fan, and took his 5 yr old son to see the Stadium just last weekend.
As close as I am to MIS, I seldom go there either. I love road racing and will drive to Mid-Ohio, Elkhart, etc. instead. I was at the last CART race at MIS and last year's C&D one lap of America race when they stopped there (went to see the two S2000 competing). One of the locals plans to drive his Audi in One Lap this year, but I haven't heard if MIS is on the schedule.
Sounds like you've got all your bases covered with a truck, bike, and sportscar. I like nice stuff too but I figure rain, bugs, and rocks go the sport and so there's no since trying to control things I can't (and still use the vehicles like they were intended). However, I do admit to still being more protective of the S2000 so far.

Welcome Rice S Nice! Look in the Forums here in the "Meets and Events" section.
There is a topic of Suburban Chicago get-together or something like that. We are trying to get a group of S2000s (and other roadsters) to meet in Schaumburg in a couple of weeks. For you, it's just a jump on I-90 and come on down. Give you an excuse for a nice Sunday drive.

Rice S Nice,
I'm also in McHenry County now....just moved from Schaumburg. But yes, on the 5th of May, we're having a little get together.
In fact, maybe sometime this weekend, we are trying to put together an "Install Party" I have some aftermarket goodies that need to be installed on my car, which usually calls for an excellent reason to have people get together, talk, drink beer (or vodka), and most importantly, eat good food.
If interested, pm me your contact info, and I will forward you any info regarding the car, the S2KCA group, and/or my contact info.

I saw the chat about meeting in Schaumburg on May 5th, but I dunno. I drive into work in Chicago 5 days a week, so about the last thing I'd want to do is drive in on a weekend.
But something in or some where in McHenry County is another. My S2K is still in storage (after last weekend) I'm glad it still is, I'm probably going to bring it out of hibernation this weekend or next. With all the rain I have a few (quite a few) hours of grass cutting to catch up on too. (Honey do's, Honey do this and Honey do that) But Hey it beats the doom & gloom.
What part of McHenry Cty you live in (let me guess, Crystal Lake or Lakewood)
Discussing over a brew sounds interesting though.
