driving classes/autox
Hey all,
Recently, i've been reading much and am very interested in autocrossing my
newly bought s2000. The only thing is, i don't really know where to get started, or
anything. Anyone in the chicagoland area know of any driving schools or how to
get started on autocrossing around the area?
ANY help is much appreciated
Brian

No classes necessary. No memberships necessary (although you get a slight discount if you join the organization with which you're racing .)
Some organizations have helmets to lend, otherwise you'll need a helmet. You'll also need numbers and class identification letter(s), which can generally be purchased at the track (magnetic - nice!) or you can make some up yourself with blue painter's tape.

I've autox'ed occasionally for the last 2 years with TSSCC. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Your first time out, tell them you're new and they'll be sure to put you with someone who'll show you the ropes.
A few folks here have been talking about hitting the SCSCC event at Maywood Park in a few weeks.
SCCA has several events at Rte66 coming up - that's right in your back yard. Looks like the remainder of the TSSCC events for this year will be held behind the cheddar curtain.

I'd recommend the SCSCC event. their freindly and small enough to allow instructors to ride in your car, and you can ride in other peoples cars. That will really help. The hardest thing you'll have to learn is seeing the course through a sea of pylons.
I used to run tsscc and scca, and they run great events. I prefer little bit smaller events, I just have more fun in the relax'd atmosphere.
Look for me in the #3 silverstone s2k, I'll be glad to other suggestions.
