I used to like Turbo mag....but it's turned into one big advertisement rather than useful and informative articles. I haven't picked it up in about 1.5 years.

Sport Compact used to be VERY good as well. Then they went the way of the rest of the Primedia rags. I've picked up about two of them in the past year, quality of the articles seemed to be back up there, though.

Now if I'm getting anything, I'm usually only buying one magazine at a time and that's only if the mag has something I want to keep and reference back to. If I look at the mags I've bought in 2005, surprisingly I think I've collected more Honda Tuning mags than any other. FYI, Honda Tuning seems to be mainly rehashed articles from SuperStreet....but without much of the garbage.

If you were open to suggestions otherwise, Playboy has really stepped up it's game with the articles regarding politics, media, and men's interest. Hustler has really stepped up its game with the pictures, though.

FHM, Stuff, and Maxim....you can find ways to get those for free.

I'm not sure what would be 'tuned' in either of those magazines.

Autoweek: $30 for 2 years if you call into Crain.

$ for $, best writing (far superior to GRM, even tho i am a subscriber). not necessarily a tuner mag, but... still a good car mag, and NOT owned by Primedia (which used to be partially owned by Yee Publishing, run by the family of a HS friend of mine)
