As the title says, I've just relocated to NW Indiana from western North Carolina. I'm about an hour away from Chicago. How is the s2000 scene up here? Can anyone point me towards a reputable body shop? Car shows? Cruises? I know nothing about the area!

Reputable body shop: A&L Autobody in Palatine, IL. My S2000s have been there many times; they are a very high end shop.

Scene here is fine....just need to figure out what you're into: drifting, show, purist, track, etc. It's really segmented, in my opinion, by interest, age, and what groups you participate in (any one of the multiple FB groups, S2Ki, S2KCa, Instagram circles, etc.)

There are a few gatherings through the summer where some of the majority get together....just keep an eye out here or on the Upper Midwest S2000 FB group.

There's a car meet on April 12 in Gurnee.

June 2 there is a Tech Day in the West suburbs.

There are likely to be car meets twice monthly throughout the summer. We're not great at holding meets through the winter for all of the obvious reasons.

 

Yikes! That body shop is almost 2 hours away.

 

I'm rather sure that there are owners on the Upper Mid-West S2000 Owners group on Facebook who are near to you and who may have a recommendation that is closer to you.

Welcome to the area! Really nice S2000 you have there! As far as gatherings (all types, not limited to S2000's), there are a ton of them around here during over the summer. I've heard good things about "Rise and Drive", held in downtown Chicago. Personally my favorite is the monthly "Supercar Saturdays", Chicago's version of "Cars & Coffee", held the first Saturday of each month from May through September. Google 'Supercar Saturdays' for more information. Any kind of car that you can think of will be there...American muscle, exotic, Japanese, you name it. Anything and everything is welcome!
