Default Illegal U-turn

So I live in Virginia and come here for school. I somehow managed to drive without getting a ticket till now. I was pulling out of a car wash and made a uturn in between street lights on North Ave. I looked down the street I was going to turn in and saw some gang-bangers and did not want to take my S down there. So I pulled a U and got pulled over. How much are the tickets? The cop was a real dick about it too. Saying he might make me walk 8 miles back to school because my insurance card expired 3 weeks ago and I don't have the new card in the car. Also gave me crap about the plate being on the dash. What would that ticket cost?

It should say it right on the ticket. But thats Wisconsin.

Best bet is to just call the court house on Monday.

It should say on the ticket, unless there is an address, date and time to appear in court in the bottom corner of the ticket. That was my last one. Cop was a prick, my fiance was in the car too so she can attest to it. Basically threw the ticket in my lap and walked away. No explanation. I later found out that since there is a location and date posted you have to appear in court. That one cost $185. $135 of which is court fees.

You're lucky he didn't give you a front plate ticket.

If you had the front plate in the proper location, he might have let you off for the U'ie with a warning.

if memory serves me right (which it rarely does), in chicago u-turns are only permitted when it is posted that it is permitted.
so unless theres a sign saying you can u-turn, you can't.

To the best of my knowledge you can't U-Turn at a controlled intersection (IE stop sign or traffic light) in any state in the midwest.

apparently it will be in June 2010, but it amazes me it isn't already mandatory.

The ticket is $75.

All IL Tickets are $75 unless its seat belt or something that says $25, or $95 for 20+ mph over the limit.
