I'm in need of help.
My headlight lens' are getting very foggy, again. I've already tried doing a turtle wax kit, it lasted all of a couple months. Any of you guys know how to do it the right way? I'd be willing to make the drive and pay to get these done right, they are bugging me and I'm very anal with my car. Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately that yellowing will happen to all of our lens eventually. I haven't really found anything that will stop it, but a regular treatment of a Uv protectant can help slow it down. This can either be some sort of wax/sealant or a plastic specific product. 303 seems to work just as well as most out there. Although this will work too...

In order to get rid of the yellowing, start by wet sanding the lens. Usually 1500 grit is fine for most, though if you have rock chips or deep scratches, start with something more aggressive. Follow the 1500 wet sanding with the 2000 wet sanding. Once you are left with just the 2000 grit haze from the wetsanding, use a polisher with a scratch remover compound to buff the headlights.
Things to take notice:
1. Sanding will be the only way to remove the yellowing for long term effects. No sanding and just an application of scratch remover will remove MOST of the yellowing, but it will come back rather quickly and the lens wont be as clear as if you sanded.
2. When sanding, use a water bottle to keep the sanding water as clear as possible.
3. After sanding, it will be difficult to achieve the same results that a machine can do to polish out the scratches. Any cheap one will do really as you're just doing the headlights, although I highly recommend picking up a decent DA to polish the scratches out of your car. The porter cable is very popular here on s2ki.
4. Tape up the area around your headlights so that you do not scratch the surrounding paint.
5. Do not use a clear protective film such as 3m on your headlight. Some members have found be plastic to trap heat and cause small cracks in the lens called crazing.
6. The kits sold in stores or on tv are usually just the materials I've described here: 1500/2000 grit sandpaper, a scratch remover and a drill attachment for polishing.
