Obviously get quotes from the giants like Allstate and State Farm (they are IL companies btw).

However, also look into companies like Country Companies, Liberty Mutual, Farmers, and the others. You'll get considerable savings with multi-line policies (home, auto, umbrella, etc.).

The larger companies maybe able to tie in financial investment strategies with your insurance needs for even further savings.

I have State Farm and I am VERY happy

-good price
-great service

Just make sure you call at least 3 of the major agencies so you get a good comparison on your quotes

BTW, I work for Allstate. They offer great product selection. They aren't know to have the best claim service processes, however, that has been changing for the better for the past couple of years.

Even with my employee discount, both the wife's and my clean record, asset protection strategies, etc., I got a better value with Liberty Mutual Ins. Co.

Since being with them, I've converted my parents' policies from a lifelong policy with State Farm to Liberty Mutual. Another member to talk to about Liberty Mutual is naseeb. He took a gander at what my agent had to offer him....he switched with a quickness as well.

If you happen to go the Liberty Mutual route, give me a call...I have a list of agents for you to go through. Hell....I should be making commission from the agents at this point.

I have been with State Farm since I was 16. Now that I am married we have both cars, house, and life insurance. And I have killer prices.

I have state farm. Very cheap as long as your record is clean. Very good service as well (which I unfortunately discovered multiple times a few years ago). They let me pick whatever facility I wanted to repair my car.
