thanks for the welcome - but i meant that i had posted my introduction here instead of where it belonged, in the "introductions" thread, and there wasn't an obvious way to delete a post, so i edited this one to point to the other one.

I saw that. The Intro thread is for saying hi, since you have some questions you might as well post them in here, that way we don't clutter up the Intro thread.
