Looking to check out a car!
Greetings all! Little background on my story. I was the proud owner of a pristine built C5 vette that was sadly the victim of flooding from that crazy rainstorm that pounded us at the end of June :\ That car was my baby and Im incredibly sad to see it go. However, the past is past and its time to look for her replacement.
The S is always a car Ive liked and saw myself owning. I figured the time is as good now as it ever has been. Between driving dynamics, aftermarket, community, and reliability; there arent many cars out there with as high a fun factor. Ive got my eye on about 3 or 4 right now that Im willing to make a move on, however they are all out of state. Im looking for an owner that would be willing to let me take a ride in their car, and possibly just check it out. Ive spent a lot of time researching and knowing what to look for in the cars I am considering, however as most of you know, there is nothing like seat time!
Anywhere in the NW suburbs or the Glenview area of IL (where I work) would be ideal. Not opposed to driving out a bit to meet you, as stated earlier this would be a greatly appreciated favor. I look forward to being an active part of the community, and participating with an S of my own!

Hey welcome.
I'd offer to let you drive my car but I'm nearly 45 mins away from you, I reside in the 630 area and work in Villa Park as well as in the city. If you'd still like to make a trek out, I'd be more than happy to accommodate you.
Curious question, how tall are you? Some people complain the S is cramped for certain heights/weights, but then again I am 5 ft 7 at 140 and of toned build so it's never a huge issue for me - when I've seen vette owners I have seen them in much more of a wider ... size range. Not that it's a bad thing, just figured I'd ask!
Those c5's are fun, to be honest I was never a huge Vette fan and honestly they aren't high on my list in terms of myself owning one but they are definitely just a blast to drive as my drove my buddy's z06 a year ago and that thing was fast, but then again it was cammed, among a million other things.
It'll be a definite change from the C5 to a S if you end up going that route, but I can promise you (at least in my thoughts) that you will still enjoy the transition as well.

I am in southern Lake Forest and just picked up a 2000 S2k. I would be glad to meet you somewhere or you can come by to take for a drive.
This is a car you should have purchased if I didnt
PM if interested. I am around most nights.

First, welcome to the community!
I can understand losing your pride and joy car so I'm sorry to hear of that loss.
I live in downtown Chicago and work out in Aurora, and have a fairly modded AP2, but if you'd like to check it out, I could arrange to make it up there!

I would be willing to give you a ride in my S in about a week, but by that time it will be supercharged and far from stock. PM me if interested.
As a 27yr old enthusiast and a guy who has owned 2 already, get the S and throw 5k into it. You won't be disappointed.

Sorry for your loss… Just like you my previous car was a vette, an '06 C6 with I/H/E, 400whp tuned. The only thing I miss about that car is the sound of the LS2. The car was brutally fast but that’s where the fun stopped. To me it was a very fast car that could be driven moderately; the S is a super responsive car that you can push to its limit while maintaining total control of the car. I never cared much about handling until I got the S, great handling cars = FUN! If speed is all you care about you can’t beat the vette for the money, for pure driving pleasure and satisfaction get the S
Only true car enthusiasts really get what the S is about.

Gotten some great responses and offers! Thanks all. This week and next for me are crazy hectic, however I have already found an S that I will be purchasing, I am excited to say the least. Those of you that have offered to let me check it out, I will (or already have) pm you and arrange something. Dont want to let too much more of summer slip away before I have to put the car in storage! haha
