Looking for a nice drive this fall
One thing that truely relaxes me is taking a nice drive around some beautiful scenery. I love this time of year when the weather drops a little and the trees strart to change color. I would like to know if anyone knows of any nice routes or drives to take in the near Chicago area and maybe a small town to visit. I was thinking to go towards michigan maybe close by the Lake. I spend alot of time in Indiana so that wont be too far for me. It can be a few hours away, doesnt matter. Just looking for some nice scenic driving. Any recommendations???

While there are several good ones, my main recommendation would be Starved Rock State Park. Try to take 2-lanes out as much as you can, and you'll be rewarded with some really nice twisties and beautiful scenery around the park.

Another really nice town / area to visit is Galena, IL.
Finally, there are also a lot of really nice roads further south in Illinois (around Carbondale), but those are even more of a trek.

Thanks for the replies. Today I took the long way home and had a little fun driving down Archer west of LaGrange and driving through all those woody streets. I think I may do starved rock and then take the a trip up to michigan. Ill try to take the dunes highway. Dont know if it will have any curves, but it should have some nice scenery.
