It's worse to put new pads on old rotors.
The front does 85-90% of the work when stopping.
If you are SURE your rears have a lot of meat left, then you should be fine.
The Valvoline DOT3 is good fluid. Get the "big" bottle and you will have more than you need for a full flush.
The speed bleeders are redundant with a pressure bleeder, Keith is on crack today or something.
okay cool. estimating from memory, i'd say there is at least 1/4" of meat still on the rear pads. maybe i can take a pic and post it later tonight. looks like i'll just need some fronts. and i'll get a bunch of fluid, too.

I think the pressure bleeder is faster and easier.
Honestly I say they are both about the same. However the benefit of the speed bleeders is that you don

I just like buying tools, so I speed bleeders and the pressure bleeder (2).

Plus if you only have 1/4 pads left, why not get news and be done with it. I have so many pairs of 1/4 to 1/2 pads left is scary. But you know me and brakes.

I figured just as much.

A. I know after last years WTD, you're not afraid of rain...hell, you're not afraid to "scrape it up either"
B. Afraid to drive in Wisconsin....can't think of anything witty for this.
C. Afraid of Wisconsin.....I'm not really afraid of WI, it's the people up there that scare us FIBs.
D. However far you are, it's never done.
E. Is your answer.

Please make sure one of yuz brings a torque wrench!!! I don't want to have problems at the dragon, like running of the cliff like that poor guy in the spa last year.

I can pick up a bunch of 2-liters. Also bags of chips?

I need to get done before 3:00PM or so so I can head out to Midway to pick up the wife and kid......do you think I cut in line if we are all getting together at 12:00ish.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, I want this to be a major learning exerience so I really want to do this myself with mentoring and help of course (Luder)

If it seems like we will be running late or there isn't enough time for me to fit this in, it's ok and I will just hang out until I have to run.

1/4" isn't enough? i'll take a pic later, but to the untrained eye it looks like there is another 60k miles left on em. haha. i guess i can buy rears if needed...thoughts from anyone else? so far it's:

moon, aquatic, vad: buy new ones
ruexp: buy new ones, but you're probably fine if you don't

i'm still leaning towards not buying new ones...

also, these guys say it's fine to use old pads on new rotors. granted that guy only has 1800 miles on his, while i have 65000 on mine...

Did you get 65,000mi out of ONE set of brake pads?

I don't think I have ever gotten 20k out of a set of pads on ANY car. This will be my second set of pads on my S at 15,000 (although I doubt I need them now.)

same here. well, at least i'd like to learn. i don't necessarily want to do this just by myself because i'd probably take all day, haha. i've done fluid changes from the DIY threads, but nothing too serious. i'm glad i got this car!

hmm, well...i guess maybe the previous owner changed the pads then? all i know is that i haven't changed em since i bought it, at 37.5k miles. so that's what, 28k miles?
