Default Need help!

So I've about had it with the way my car has been driving. I'll defer to another posting that does an excellent job of describing the same problem I'm having

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/929...g-wobbly-feel/

I've had it aligned at Suburban Tire in Glendale Heights to factory specs and given a full suspension lookover at Firestone (also in GH). Both shops said he car checked out fine. Can anyone reccomend a different shop or have any insight as to what may be going on? I still get some very pronounced side to side wobble that is very noticible and a bit scary at times.

are your tires new? did Firestone physically take your wheels off and check everything or was it a visual inspection?

Try jacking up your car and seeing if you get ANY up/down rotation in the wheels. I'm not talking about along the suspension travel, but as if the wheel is rotating in its place up and down. If so, there's a very good chance that you've got a damaged / worn out wheel bearing and / or hub. I just replaced mine about a week and a half ago because I was getting that sensation and couldn't be properly aligned, and it made a huge difference.

If you want someone else to look at it, contact Dan (user name Quivers here on the forum). He's the one that realized it was the wheel bearing / hub that was shot on mine.

Just to clarify, spin the wheel on the hub and see id it has some sort of irregular up/down travel?

Tires are the same winterforcrce i had on last year with no issues. Had the same suspension issues with my summer tires for what it's worth.

Basically, I'd grab the top and bottom of the tire (from the front) and see if you get movement pushing on one, then the other, back and forth. If this produces even a little bit of a "rocking" motion in the wheel, relative to the car, there's a good chance that's the issue.

As Pat said, if you come out to the tech day (either day this weekend), I'm sure we could take a look at it and see what we think. More info on the tech day here: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/934573-tech-day/

Thanks for the quick replies everyone. Unfortunately I'm booked all weekend so I can't make it to either tech day. I'll be free from April 5-15 on break so maybe i can meet up with someone more mechanically inclined than myself to take a closer look at my wheel assemblies.

If you're willing to come downtown, I might be free to take a look on the 7th or 8th. PM me if you're interested and I can send you my address.

Wobble? at what speeds?

Does it pull left to right?

Does the vehicle wander?

Have you done any repairs related to steering and suspension lately that might have caused.

Do you have aftermarket wheels installed? hows the tire condtions?
