Thumbs up Need a new cylinder head

Hey guys,

my spark plug wont tighten cuz the threads are gone inside the cylinder, so i talked to pinyo and he said i need a new cylinder head. to fix the problem it would cost me about $2500 ($1000 for new cylinder head) including installation. Pinyo also suggested that it is better to buy a new motor or pull my motor out and send it out to get it custom built for turbo or SC application which could cost me about $5000-$7000. just to let guys know i'm SC'd.

what do you guys think should i fix my cylinder head and sell my car and get a new S or Just sell my car as is right now or build a custom motor for some power?

which would be smarter route to take for the long run and money wise?

please help me out i'm so confused

thanks, nikhil

what ever happened to: tapping the stripped head to a bigger thread,

or pulling your head and having it repaired ?

my SC probably about 14psi or if i go turbo about 20psi. my plan is to make about 450-500whp on pump gas and also looking for reliability.

well if you want that power reliably then you need turbo, and you need to rebuild the bottom, so pull the motor, pull it apart and have the head sent to a machine shop, (or someone here will suggest a port/polish place) and send the bottom end to have low compression pistons put in. and turbo the shit out of it.

http://www.alaniztechnologies.com/f20c1parts.html

I heard Alaniz does great work, but it takes time. 500 whp on 93 is possible but very very costly, next to this my project seems small...and Im at 17k already.
You will need a lot of parts, including drivetrain.....mucho $$$
Is there anyone that ever made 500whp on pump?
Its a lot of power and your powerband would suck.

I was thinking that Youll need turbo like gt35r or something similar, just the engine work would be around 6500-7000, the turbo kit propably around 5-7k diff, axles - 4-5k (skyline diff)....+ a lot more other things(another 5-10k for brakes, gauges etc.)
And You wouldnt pass emmison.

Brad hit the nail on the head. You are NEVER going to make ANY money modding a car. Getting anywhere NEAR that power will cost you BIG money. From a purely practical standpoint an '02 Z06 with a bolt-on blower will get you to the 500-550 RWHP range on pump gas, and will cost you MUCH less. Of course, I do understand wanting the S, I am just making a point.

I think your best bet is to repair the head. Then re-evaluate your goals and make plans accordingly.

OT: do you own a Z06 or a C5, and were you around gary/schink @ 1:00pm ish today?

also... a built c5 will get you more power then a z06 for less
