OEM audio upgrade
I just bought a GPW AP2. I am wondering if any member know of a good local car audio shop in Minneapolis/ Saint Paul area. I want to upgrade the stock head unit to an aux input type without losing control of the OEM audio buttons. Or if any local member know how to do it well I can just pay you. Thanks
This isn't a hard task. I promise. If you need, I can make a write up for you if you'd like. basically it's four screws and some color-matching with plastic over the wires. If you'd like, I can write up some instructions for you later.
It would be appreciated. If you can take some pictures as you doing it, it would be helpful. I search the forum but did not find anything for AP2. I did found that Modifry sell a module so that you can keep using the radio buttons. Thank you in advance

Could you do this as I am interested as well? I just bought a new Kenwood about 2 months ago, so If you could, that'd be great!
This link is a general install guide. As I was preparing to write this tutorial, I was browsing Modifry's web page, and they actually have detailed tutorials for each type of radio. Here are the links:
If you go the infrared route, you'll want to follow THIS link.
If you choose Sony or Pioneer, you'll want to follow THIS link.
If you decide Alpine, JVC, Clarion or Kenwood, you'll want to follow the instructions found HERE.
These instructions are VERY detailed and can be a bit overwhelming if you've never done something like this. But like I said, it is very simple to do. I went out to my car and undid and redid this for photos before I found these instructions in literally 10 minutes.
If you need help getting your old radio out, let me know, I can help you out.

Avoid the JVC's mine had to do so many adjustment just to have the door barely closes after taking the face-plate off. With the face-plate on, it's far from close.
Plus don't forget the OEM headunit has a anti-road noise function. It emits some sort of frequencies to wipe out some certain degree of road noise.
