Omaha is average. Nothing special. If you want to impress your folks try www.lobels.com (rated best steaks to buy in Money magazine)

I have ordered from both and Lobels is by far much tastier.

Obviously, you get what you pay for. Lobels is more expensive. Good Luck.

My roommate gets Omaha steaks. Good slab of meat but IMO not that much better than what you get at a good local meat store.

I got the 6oz Filet Mignon's - pass on the black box presetnation. You can't each a fancy black box.

It was a special occasion. Don't get the impression that is where I buy all my steaks from.

Usually I go to Tony's butcher in Grayslake. Also pricey but very tasty.

If you want a steak... try Kobe beef. Its close to $300 a steak at some resturaunts...!!

I tried a bite or two when out to a VERY nice dinner with a client in Ann Arbor (he passed around chunks to everyone at the table) and it was probably the most tender filet I've ever had. As for how it was prepared- It was pretty dam good... but preparation is 80%- meat quality is only 20% in my book...

...I can make a POS sirloin from 7/11 taste like a J. Alexander's filet if I wanted to!
