Default Radio code

Hi everyone,

just wondering if there is a way to pull the radio code from the headunit. I read holding down the 1 and 6 but that didn't do anything, and I already looked in all the suggested spots for the code card. Just wanted to know if there is a way before I pull the battery and just have to bring the car to the dealer come spring.

thanks in advance...

-Matt

I worked at Honda for a little while and I never heard about pulling a code from the radio itself by holding down two buttons. That's new to me, but that would be a pretty bad idea if you ask me and would ruin the purpose of the code itself since every thief would be able to pull the code. If you can't find your radio code, you might be able to call the dealer and see if service has it in their records. I know our dealer kept radio codes so if this happened we wouldn't waste our time pulling out the radio. If they don't have it, pull the radio out and write down the serial number that's on the back of the radio. Take that number to the service department and ask them to get the radio code for you. Honda has a website for their technicians were you enter the serial number and your code pops out. I did this all the time for customers. Good luck.

Also, take an insurance card or something that proves you own the car just in case they ask.

i had the same problem when my battery died. try looking for a sticker in your trunk with 5 or 6 numbers on it and then put those numbers into your radio.

IIRC holding buttons 1 and 6 pulls the serial number, not the radio code. try looking for a little white sticker (mine is on the inside of the glovebox). The dealers often put it there and it has the radio code on it. Otherwise, just worry about it next year!

I had the same problem in the summer. Twice actually. So then I went to the originial dealership where I bought the car from, gave them my VIN# and thankfully, they were be able to track down my radio code.
