Default replacing soft top

Hey everyone, i am in desperate need to replace my soft top on my ap1, ( the plastic rear window is slashed open.) i was wondering if anyone in the relative "chicago-land" area has had experience changing out a top of their own or another s2000, and would feel comfortable enough to do this pain in the ass project again, with help. I could do it myself, with tools and a service manual, but i would much rather have the piece of mind working with someone who has successfully done this before.

if anyone can help, let me know!

also, i am in need of a soft top (plastic window)

I've done enough of these to be of some assistance. Unfortunately, my schedule is really tight on the weekends (the only time I have available).

PM me...maybe we can work out a time that's viable for the two of us.

You can replace just the rear section.

Its quite labor intensive... but not to bad. I bought mine with a slashed window and replaced the zippable section thats sort of under the top.

thanks Luder, i need to get ahold of a top now. so i will send you a PM when i get that sorted out. and i was reading up in the service manual and saw you could replace just the rear section, but i figured, if your going to do that much work, why not the whole top? i have a little cut in my top from wear as it is,

how much does a used softop/plastic window go for, compared to just the window section

hardtopguy or even topsonline (dot com) would be a few suppliers.
They could range from what kind of top (fabric), glass or plastic. Range could be anywhere from $400 to $1000 depending on your fabric choice and rear window + shipping.
If your looking for a better bargain, check around for total'd S2K partouts or even a FS or WTB thread.
I've checked around myself. I've a got softtop issue myself, just not something needing immediate replacement. A crack at the rear behind both windows.

Good luck!
