So there is one on the 20th of July and another on the 24th of August? I'm going to be coming back from home late on the 20th, so that won't work, but I'd LOVE to make it out on the 24th. I might just keep my AP1 OEM tires around for this...

Can you guys get these cars to drift fully(pedal to the metal style?) Mine always feels like its going to swing the pendulum(if that makes sense)

Any more details? I won't be able to make it this weekend as I'll (hopefully) be at Gingerman.

I've never heard of a combined drift/autocross day. As for the drifting - is there instruction? Practice? Competition? Or is it just go out there and try to get sideways? Convertible's need hardtop/roll cage?

For the autocross - I assumed it's timed? Is the course on the parking lot or the oval/infield? Is it a competition? Classification? Instruction? Work assignments?

Both - Tech inspection? Driver's meeting time?

Not trying to be an ass, but there's not a lot of info in the post or the web site. To me, it looks like a shop just rented out an oval for a day and is just letting people go at it...which is something I wouldn't feel safe attending. If, however, the autocross and drift event are organized in a similar fashion to SCCA, TSSCC, SCSCC, WCMC, ClubFR, etc then I'm very interested in attending on the 24th.

Ah, the helmet question.

I picked up my helmet several years ago at Northstar Motorsports (.com) out in Barrington. They will definitely carry auto racing helmets (as opposed to kart or motorcycle) helmets. If you're not ready to plop down $250+ for a car helmet you could always go kart or motorcycle helmet. You can find karting helmets at Chicago Indoor racing and motorcycle helmets at most bike shops (afaik). Kart or motorcycle helmets offer different protection though. Some clubs/tracks/track events may not accept kart/bike helmets though. For most events you should be fine, but it is a risk.

Definitely the right attitude.

Not sure of any other retail shops that would sell helmets. Maybe someone else could chime in. You could always buy online, but I highly recommend trying it on first.
