Posting this up for reference, just in case anyone wants to see video from the SCCA event this past weekend. Raw time of 60.775 was my best but thankfully my second run of the day was clean and still fast enough for 2nd in Street Tire. This run would have moved me closer to a win but not nearly close enough. After watching the video I know why. Messy messy.
Thanks for posting that. Here is my best for comparison. 62.728 with no cones. I don't see any one particular place your faster than me. You're faster in every place.
Course map:
Red = Slowest sections, Purple = Fastest sections
No problem. It's surprising how it adds up. A tenth here and there and you lose time quick. I tried to shave a little off for my last run just to turn in a clean time. Not only did I not run clean but I ended up slowing down over 1.2 from my fastest run.
McKamey's wisdom stands. "Do not slow down to avoid cones, just react quicker"
You might try to get video in the car and of your hands. I find that quite helpful. I'm not as much concerned about seeing the course as I am seeing how I'm driving it. After seeing video from a faster competitor I can see now what I'm doing wrong and I'll be working on that at the next event.
My biggest problems are not leading the car enough. Meaning I'm still quite late in reacting to maneuvers and I'm actually a lot more crabby than I thought. Crabby as in moving toward the cone before initiating turn-in rather than truly late apexing like I should be. And then I'm also not really executing the maneuver, I'm not giving enough steering input. Especially through the slaloms.
Like I said Sunday, I'll be happy to share my newfound wisdom. If we line up far enough apart I'll be happy to ride with you and you can ride with me.
