Sighted Thread of Chicago!
Damn,
...I have had car issues...Maybe its just my luck, but I just grit it and keep on movin'. Take all of what you read in stride, and we'll all get along. I picked up my S2k in august, and did not know how to drive stick. fun. anyway, I learned as I drove the car, and soon was neutral dropping it and such. From this I destroyed my first clutch in 33 days,
not knowing I could destroy a clutch, or even wtf it really did. Oh, and I didn't have another car to drive, and rental without an accident wasn't covered in my insurance. So i get a stage 3 clutch from Spec and a Fidanza flywheel with replaceable face from Clutchexpress.com.
I even went to the trouble to get a service manual, and figure out how to install the clutch myself, to save cash...7 hours into the install, after I had dropped the engine 6 inches, removed a whole shitload of stuff from the engine as required, I saw that there was a specific tool needed to remove the (i forgot the exact name) rod that connects the transmission to the rear gearset. (guys, I know these terms, I'm just really tired after working a long day, so forgive me) I couldnt leave the car where it was, and it was 5am, and the place didn't open for another 7 hours. dammit, so I ended up putting everything back together, and driving the car to the transmission place, and paying $400 for the guys there to replace the flywheel and clutch. I was pissed, but I learned a lot in almost replacing the clutch. All I had left to do was drop the trans, replace the clutch and flywheel, and then reverse the process and put everything back together. Another 6 hours, no big deal.
Get all that installed...$2000 total inculding parts and labor and the rental car for like 12 days.
Dayum!!! Good strong kick to that clutch, and I really enjoyed it. 3 months go by of lots of fun and good driving. No way would I lose on the street against my buddy....and in racing him I dropped the clutch in at 7500 and blew it again. This time totally stripped it to the point that I couldn't even move the car at all. I was so pissed. Now I have all the parts again, and I only spent a $700, including shipping. The guys are working on replacing the clutch as I write this, and we will see it in a few days. I have a caddy now that I use to get around in winter.
The point of this entire message is:
1) I want to get to know a few of you guys that know more about engines than I do for modification and upgrades.
2) I do a lot of custom work myself, and have already basically ripped almost everything outta my car and put it back in just to make sure I know my way around. I turned the trunk, after about 100 man hours between me and my buddy, into a custom box, with 1200 watts, and (2) 12" subs, with a 1 farad cap, and Rockford Fosgate 6" components in front, a Kenwood excelon HU, a heads-up display connected to the kenwood, a 100GB kenwood music Keg that was hardware hacked to be that large, I am installing the neons under my car soon, I am looking for headrest speakers (if anyone knows where to get 'em please let me know), I am getting heated seats, I am getting the windscreen mod, and then of course all the other fun mods...
My car has been outta commission for like 3 months....it hurts so much...but now all the stuff is going to get fixed, and I'll be back on the road...trust me you'll see me. I take that thing everywhere. We rox out with cocks out, though I guess I would agree that most cars are female in nature...
whatever.
Anyone know where to get ahold of a nice S2K set of headrest speakers, OEM or otherwise...
Thanks!
BTW, im in the schaumburg area, and have seen a bunch of S2k's notably a bright yellow one I raced on 53S to about 125mph...that was fun a few months back...

That's a LOT in one post.
Check out the electronics forum. There is a guy in there selling "S-Pods." It's an enclosure system for speakers inside the roll-hoops. You can place a 5 1/4" component set inside them. FAR superior to the (IMNSHO) very expensive headrest speakers.
Clutch drops at 7500 will fry more than the clutch. Eventually (and in your case i would guess sooner than later) you will destroy the differental, rear axles, and the tranny might not hold up to that too well either. Adding power will accererate this problem exponentially.
BTw -- Welcome.

Ok so IYHO what is the top end to drop an S2K in at from a stop? All I am looking for is a quick jump, and no damage. That is all! any ideas? Yes, more power will be coming soon, but that is why I want to know about this before I add anything more...
Sorry about the long post, I kinda have been looking for a place like this forum for a WHILE now, and a few others I looked at all sucked ass.
Thanks!

You might do better starting a separate thread to get input about drag racing your S2000. There are others that here that have done it/do it now.
Personally I don't hard-launch my S2000 at all. I'll catch 'em in the twisties. I have other cars for going fast in a straight line.
