I feel the same way too, too many riced out S2k out there. Also everything else coming out is quicker, faster, more modern than the S. Was looking at the M3 but all the horror stories scares me...

I'm not from MN, but I want to chime in on this... I don't agree that too many kids are ricing out the S2000. The cars themselves may be inexpensive, but parts certainly havn't dropped too much in cost. And define "ricing"? Are we talking about ANY aftermarket part? Or are we talking about putting on stupid-cheap parts and ugly body kits that do nothing to the car but ruin it? I've seen far far far more tastefully modified S2000s out there than disgusting ones. And I've seen stupid-modifications to much more expensive cars out there than just S2000s. You will find them all the way up to Lamborghinis and Ferraris. So where to you draw the line as far as not wanting to buy a car because people are "ricing them out"?

Just because people take Honda Civics and rice the crap out of them, and they are all over the place, does not mean that owning a Civic is going to put you in the same light as the kid ricer who puts a triple park-bench spoiler and a fart-can on his.

There is nothing wrong with the S2000. Underpowered?...yeah, it is. Under torqued? Yeah, it is. But it still has a fabulous 6 speed manual, still has fantastic handling, still has beautiful lines, and a great engine. I don't care if I get beat on the freeway on-ramp by a family sedan. The S2000 is not designed as a straight-line monster.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, I love the S and all that it has to offer but I also wanted to get outta the Honda scene (not that I dislike Honda) even though the S2k and NSX are the only Honda vehicle I'll ever want to own (performance wise).
By ricing out, I mean throwing on every single Auto Zone aftermarket parts u can find.

^^^ thats how I feel.. If I had to buy another S I would. I grew up with Honda's.. Honda is basically my bread and butter. As the S gets cheaper more of the younger kids are buying them. I just seen one the other day with the loudest 3.5 inch fart can on it trying to race me in my girlfriends bone stock Scion TC. That makes me embarrassed to be a Honda owner. I know that its your car and you can build it how you like and I respect that cause where all car enthusiast... But when you do stupid crap like this or put non sense parts on your car you ruin it for other owners...

I am seeing a lot more S’s in Minnesota than I have in the past. From Blaine to Maple Grove, I see about 4-5 per week. And I see very few riced out ones. What I find interesting is how many owners want to chat but don’t know and don’t care about this forum.

And to any Minnesotans interested, many owners will be getting together at Wagner’s in Brooklyn Park on the 24th after 6.

Maybe it’s time to get this community jump started.

I'm trying to get Minnesota people in on this too, since your state and Iowa are the main focus! Even if you're just a member and don't own the car anymore.

I am "requireing" a representation from Minnesota to be there!

Ah... Some people do grow out of the car and move on. Nothing wrong with that at all. I've thought about it myself on several occasions. But always went back to the S2k for reasons I won't get into here, some emotional, mostly logical.

I've never seen a "riced" S2000 yet by that standard... I've seen ugly ones, but not that... there is a highly viewed video of a 350Z done up like how you describe... and a good chance that 90% of those on this forum have seen it.

By "ugly" S2000s, it pretty much comes down to differences in taste. Some people did not care for the changes I made to my interior. But a lot like it, including me, which is why I did it in the first place. And there are those who feel that putting ANY aftermarket part on the car be it a $4,000 performance part of the highest JDM quality or a $4 Pep-boys piece of plastic is an adulteration of the vehicle and should be shot for it.

Most cars that I see around here "riced out" like that aren't even hondas. They are typically US based autos. Pontiac Grand Am/Prix, Chevy Cavalier, and Ford Probe. Mostly the first and last mentioned.
