Spring, summer, and fall UMW events
1.
Ok so here it is, the initial FWT '05 thread. There are quite a few events being planned for this summer for the UMW and more.
We will be hosting an "S2000 Expo" for the national community (both this and S2KCA's community). This isn't an event that will be an effort to combine, unite, or bring the two org's into solidarity. This is an event that the UMW group wants to host for all owners, regardless of organizational loyalty.
This event is going to be held either the end of May or beginning of June. This hasn't been decided as of yet and we will be waiting for the Indiana crew to chime in on a weekend date. More than likely, this will be a 4-day event (Thursday night to Sunday afternoon) and will focus on UMW owners, lower Midwest owners (Texas and the Creole), as well as the East coast owners as a whole (NY to Florida).
The focus of this event will be not only on driving, but should also have group events like dining, tours, shopping, and other non-car activities.
Targetted group: Owners, owners' significant others, owners' friends (as passengers), and interested prospective owners (accompanied by owners as passengers).

The main event for UMW owners, by UMW owners, will be the FWT '05.
This event will be planned for either late April, early to mid May, or late July to early August. This will depend upon what the UMW wants....this means it's up to you! The focus of this event will be driving "tours", tech sessions, and everything else car related (save for track day or auto-x). We will also put together something for participants in the evening, be it a "party" tent or a night out after a group dinner. This will be everything "S2000" and "participant" focused....
Targetted group: Owners, owners' friends (as passengers), and interested prospective owners (accompanied by owners as passengers).

The last big event for the summer/fall will be the S2K TSD rally. This is being planned for late August, Sept. or early October. This will be a friendly, but competitive driving event for the street. Namely, this isn't a speed event in the likeness of a Canonball Run. This event will require a co-pilot and will be two days long. One day for the driving and festivities, the night for dinner and recooperation. The second day will be a free day in a historic town for you to spend $$$, eat, or drive home.
Targetted group: Owners, significant others (especially geared for a get-away type of weekend), and owners' friends (as passengers).

UBAB's. How can we go a season without having the annual Spring and Fall UBABs. We will still have these. The Spring UBAB will be geared for S2000-owners only hosted at my house. The Fall UBAB may have to be moved to a park-area and will be open to automotive enthusiasts of all kinds.

5.
Track days and Auto-x's. I assume Hecash will still be spearheading track day weekends for the S2K community as well as other track-heads. The local SCCA and BMWCCA puts together many auto-x's. I'm sure those that are interested in these activities already know where to turn for more information. If more information is needed, please post up a thread in the UMW forum and inquire.
==================================================
The afore mentioned weekend activities we will be planning for will be planned around the UBAB's, track days, and auto-x events to the best of our abilities. We want to avoid as much time conflict in overlap of events, and concurrent weekend events. We want to get as much participation for and from the UMW constituents as possible.

Let me also add that this spring/summer/fall, we plan to continue having our bi-weekly dinner meets on Thursdays in Schaumburg area.
The meeting location and days can be change as needed, or by majority rule in participation. We've used Thursdays and Schauburg area in the past due to the success of participation.
This year, we will segment ourselves away from the typical tuner-crowd that we associated with last year. Due to unfortunate violent events, we would rather not want to associate ourselves with that again this year. If we are interested in participating in more than just an S2000 crowd type of event, my "vote" will be to only associate with those crowds more mature in nature. The Subaru crowd and the hot rod folks are a great group of auto-enthusiasts that I would love to associate with.
If those of you veterans notice, I've suggested that we do this bi-weekly rather than our typical weekly meets. Last year, early in the season, we had AWESOME participation, but late in the summer, we stopped being so frequent. I think this had to do much with having too many meets.
As normal, we will still have our impromptu Saturday night gatherings and drives for those of you interested in it. We can also do some movie, beer, and BBQ nights as well for those of us of age and wanting more mature non-car conversations. I know my wife doesn't mind meeting and hanging out with the significant others that are only apart of the S2000-community by association.

Sounds like a BLAST!
I am looking forward to all of these events.
As part of the S2k Expo and/or FWT I will volunteer to do some tech demos on electronics on cars. Hardwiring a Radar Detector and/or installing an aftermarket Head Unit, etc.
No full audio installs, but cover some of the basics. Let me know what you guys want to see.
Jim, thanks for the offer. I know I had a BLAST at the AutoX last year at the TireRack and would love to do it again.
I'd love to get a chance to run on the track at tire rack, since last year I missed FWT 2004.
Also, I'd suggest FWT being in the july/august date you suggested, rather than the april/may date, since dragonball meet is end of april.

FWT would be best in late summer, I can make it end of april or beginning of may because of school!
Thursday night meets would be fine, wont be able to make it to every one, but the majority of them.
