Default TCT bad again...

So my TCT is rattling away again... so instead of replacing it again (under part warranty) the dealer (per honda care) wants to dissasemble the engine to check the timing chain for streching. I just want to know if anyone here has had them do this before?

Also because its warranty work I thought honda care would give me a loaner... but I called today and they said no. Anyone get the same answer?

Did you buy the car from a different dealer? Tell them you'll just call honda corporate and ask them for a loaner directly.

TCT is a known defective part. Replacing it with a Billman250 moddified TCT with a lifetime guarantee is what I suggest. Before I'd let a "dealer" touch my car, especially under warranty work which is usually done half/ass to begin with... I'd do some more research all together. The timing chain may have stretched a little, it's supposed to, which is why the TCT is an auto tensioner... If the timing chain never stretched it wouldn't need a tensioner at all... So why tear apart an engine to diagnose something that 'we' already know why/how to fix?

It sounds like your dealer is trying to milk your car for a little warranty claim cash and doesn't care much about your personal issues.. ie; no loaner car.

I'd order a TCT from Billman250 and fix it myself! Took me 20 minutes and the issue is resolved... For LIFE!

There could also be a problem with low oil-pressure. I had similar TCT problems before my engine failed. It might be worth your time check oil pressure.

To clarify, Honda Care is the one calling the shots on what work they want done to my car... so if I take it to a different dealer they will just all Honda Care and do the same thing.

As far as the rental/loaner Honda Care said they don't offer it even though I have an extended warranty...

Chris, I did buy it at a different dealer but those guys that told me all it needed was a valve adjustment...

Thanks for the great info Charles

I wish Honda would acknowledge that somethings not right with our tct already... oh well the more I think about this I might just replace it myself and probably with the billman one. Gonna call Honda Care again...

If you search some of the Modd or Technical forums you'll find a description of the Billman250 Modded TCT. But basically he sandblast the gear so it does not move as freely. All I can say is that Billman250 is a stand up guy, trusted by many, and he says he's had a 99% success rate and guarantees them for life.

Either way! Beware of Dealers!

Best luck to ya...

I actually sand blasted my worm gear today on my lunch break (work at a dealership). Worked great! No more clicking, but now I can hear every other little noise lol.
