I too have had stem caps stolen. I live in a condo and we get kids skateboarding in the lot now and then. I was on the computer (probably on s2ki...) and I can see the car through the window.

I always pay attention when someone is hanging around the car, whether walking by or parking next to it so I was watching when a couple kids were skateboarding by and working on their "tricks". I thought nothing of it.

Suddenly the tall skinny one ran over to my right rear, pulled off the stem cap and put it in his pocket! I was absolutely livid and couldn't even believe what I just saw. So I'm running around like mad, throwing on a sweatshirt and shoes and swearing up a storm.

By the time I got outside they had left and were across the street, which was probably best.

When I calmed down I realized that no matter what I did to him (beat the living daylights out of him, take his skateboard, or even just have a nice little "talk"), their retribution on the car could easily be much worse.

The caps came with my winter wheels and were chrome hex nut design. They're probably ten bucks for a set of four at Trak Auto and I probably won't replace them anyway.

So yeah, it sucks.

it trully sucks. i had discount tire remove the metal caps when they did my tires and put the black plastic one on cause i knew some kid was bound to steal them for his bike.
i prefer black caps over no caps/exposed valve stems.

is it me or has theft skyrocketed since the KBAB? or is more people are posting about it on here?

Economy is in the pooper, these sorts of crimes are the least of our (upcoming) potential problems.

South side has people getting robbed, car jacked, ATM jacked, shot during a stickup, blah blah blah... now I understand these things happen all the time (especially once it gets warmer out), but the frequency that the squawck box is reporting on these things is increasing.

Time to knuckle up and guard your grille people.

Yes. For the past 9 years, this is the worst I've seen it in the UMW....EVER....and it's only the very beginning of the season.

I always rock the black plastic ones for this very reason.

My next vehicle shall have a gun rack in it. That always worked well back home.
