Default UMW Pulse Check

Hello All,

I just wanted to do a pulse check and see how everyone is holding up during this brutal winter. I know this is a silent time for the UMW, as it is every year during these cold months. I want to say to everyone that the end is almost near, and I look forward into having a fun upcoming season.

I am working with on a few things that will structuralize meets the way we used to have them in the past. I know some like there to be Thursday meets / Friday meets and I am looking into accommodating both. There are several businesses in the lake county area that throw “cruise nights” every so often and I am getting self-involved with that. They offer discounted food and a variety of cars showing to locations that we have already been too. More details soon to come. 

Also, I still want to have a shooting range day, so look for that to respawn in the upcoming weeks. As every year someone hosts a tech day near dragon time and thereafter, I plan to host some of that too. I usually have a BBQ/Drive/Bonfire activity going on.

If you guys have ideas to meets you would like for me to setup or events, let me know, here, I’d love to hear the community’s thoughts. It’s been a little quiet on my end as I near the birth of my first (any day/hour now). I want to remind everyone that we are all a community, whether we are on the race track or a car show. I say this as I read some people posting on here and other social networks, that there is too much hate going on. I know that we are a better example of what is happening outside this community. This is why we continue to succeed as a group and community. Let’s keep this alive and going strong into 2014. Let’s keep the respect we have for each other and outside the community.

Finally, I am throwing a car show June 1st as I did last year; many of you on here came and supported a great cause, look for a thread soon to come up. You will be able to sign up and help make a difference as well. Stay warm my friends and any new ideas or thoughts are welcome. This is your community!

Physically drained with this snow,

Andy

Very well written.

I hope to be able to come up to the windy city for at least one meet this year but with my wedding being in July and lots of planning still left to do I don't know if I will be able to escape.

Other than that I am looking forward to seeing all of the meet ups posted!

This has been a brutal winter, but I'm getting parts together to get the car ready for summer.

I'm in for a gun range day

i am feeling pretty suicidal about the damn snow and cold. but then again, it's only the 5th of February, so i know that it's the middle of winter and what to expect. holding up fine, got a few projects for the S as soon as it gets above freezing (stoptech brakes, Gernpipe/Gernzhaust/Gernby Etune, some chassis braces, new radiator and fluidampr). that will be all i wanna do to my S and then drive drive DRIVE!!

looking forward to meets!!

I'm still alive, just hibernating lol. As far as meets go, My brother just opened up an Ice cream shop, I will have to check on parking, but would love to host a few there over the summer. You can't please everyone so alternating days would be great, or even 2 meets a week. you know me, I'm down for whatever.

I have gotten a few messages from people regarding Go Karting, including people from Wisconsin and Iowa, So I will be trying to set up something for a weekend.

I also talked to Tire Rack last year about using their facility to host another large meet and they said they were all for it. I will have to secure a date and will let people know as soon as I can. Any additional help with this would be greatly appreciated.

I may not be visible all the time, but im always around. Getting excited for summer/warm weather activities. Tech days, last minute meets, cruises, starve rock, warren dunes, dinner meets, autocross meets. Love this community. met and befriended some of the best people i know from this community. Not uncommon to see life long friendships start from here.

Definitely want to check out that gernpipe too.

Andy - I need a tech day. Find us a heated barn or something and set a date.

Definitely all of the above. We need a week of rain to wash away all the salt/snow/nastiness & then warm weather please. Also interested in this Gernpipe business that all the kids are talking about.
