Default A Weekend of Fun in Milwaukee

Hello, People of S2KI

After receiving a positive response to my feeler thread of a few weeks ago, the great organizational computer in the sky has been churning and here's what it spat out:

The weekend of May 25-27 (yes, that Monday is still the weekend) is fraught with motorsports glee, and what better way to celebrate it than to hang out in Milwaukee -- eating, drinking and watching TV is what us Milwaukeeans do best, after all. The events of the weekend have been planned around the live airing of the Monaco Grand Prix (7 AM), so we figured that some events the night prior would be a great way to make it a full weekend worth the drive. So, here's the plan:

Honorary Milwaukeean K1ngfunK will be hosting a cruise North from central Chicago, meeting at Streets of Woodfield in Schaumburg, IL around 12:00 PM and leaving by 12:30 PM. The cruise will roll through Lake Geneva, so promises to be a beaut'. This will allow for time to check in to hotels in Milwaukee, if you're staying the night, in time to make it to the...

Lakefront Brewery Tour!!!!! By MKE's scientific measurements, this is the best brewery tour on the face of the planet. We'll try to get in for the 4:00 tour, and I give you a money-back guarantee that you won't be disappointed. After the tour, we'll have a few hours to sober up before dinner at...

Cafe Centraal Grand Cafe!!!!! An offshoot of one of Milwaukee's premier restaurant groups, Centraal is stacked with awesome rib-stickin' food and one of the best beer lists around. We'll make reservations for around 7:00 PM. Note: I highly recommend the Rosemary Goat Cheese Mac (add chicken, natch'), but if that's not your speed there's plenty of other options. Additionally, there are appx. 874574680736 bars in the neighborhood (this is MKE after all), so the party can continue into the wee hours if you'd like. But, don't take that too literally, because you'll need a good night of sleep for the...

Formula 1 Grand Prix of Monaco!!!! hosted at The Highbury Pub - Bay View!!!!! I hosted a few events here last year, and a more appropriate spot does not exist for watching European sports in Milwaukee. The race begins at 7:00 AM, with pre-race festivities beginning at 6:30 AM... doors will open at 6:00 AM to start curing hangovers in time for the big event. The lads at Highbury have promised drink specials -- I prefer the BeerMosa (mimosa made with fine WI beer instead of crappy French champagne), and K1ngfunK reminisces on their Bloody Mary as the best he's ever had. The race should be over by 9:00 AM and we can all take about an hour off to sober up again, before the...

Indianapolis 500 kicks off at 11:00 AM!!!!! You'll note that I've not included a location here -- I'm going to host this portion of the weekend with a cookout at my house, which is very near to the Highbury we'll have spent the morning at. I'm not going to post my address online (duh), so if you want to come to this portion but will not be at the bar, contact me for further information.

Now, all that being said, there's a lot of specific planning yet to do, and we will need to know how many individuals to expect for each portion of this weekend. For instance, if we get enough folks on board for the brewery tour, we can arrange for a private tour with just our group! So, if you're interested in attending any/all of this weekend, please copy and paste the list below with your name included and any +1's, indicating which portions (Cruise/Tour/Dinner/Bars/Monaco GP/Indy 500) you plan to attend into a reply on this thread. This is going to be an organizational task, so please keep responses as brief and to-the-point as possible. I'll try to keep the initial post updated as well.

Now, for a little fine print: if you're planning on staying the night, I recommend either getting a cheap hotel by the airport (about 10 minutes from the dinner and GP locations), or spending a little more to stay downtown (also about 10 minutes away). Of course, imbibing and driving is not recommended; you'd be looking at about a $15-$20 cab ride each way to/from either location. I'm sure a little organization could help keep costs down -- up to you! If you have any questions on the information above, don't PM me (mine don't work because i'm lazy) -- send me an email at chazzguitar at gmail dot com. K1ngfunK, as your local CO, is well versed in the ways of the PM, so you can contact him here as well.

Now that you've read this entire novel, I ask you one question: Ya' in?

Come on now people, who's down for some cheap/free beer, good food and better times? Don't let the F1 thing scare ya; plenty more to do this weekend!
