Wisconsin Autocross?
Hello, I'm from the Fox Valley region and just got my S2k the end of May and have become pretty interested in the idea of autocrossing, but I can't find any events and I don't really know where to look, so I"m hoping you guys can help me out. I'll be out of the area until at least the 15th of August but if there are some events after that I'd greatly appreciate it if you guys could fill me in.
I have never done it before so I"m completely clueless.
Thanks

most all events have some type of on site reg. you do not have to be a member. i highly suggest wai autox or madison sports car club. for your first time you dont want an event with 120+ cars. when you get to reg ask who the event chair is because you are new and need guidance.
I have found an autocross on the 15th hosted by the madison sports car club, but right now I"m in canada, and don't know how to register over the internet. anybody have any advice or know what the website is that i can do this at?
I will never go to another Milwaukee SCCA event, total waste.
The people who run the event and a lot of the members have serious attitudes.
Not to mention I dont like paying for an event where I work over 3 hours while other people get out of it.

alright I think i'm gonna do the madison sports car club autocross in janesville the 15th...is anyone else gonna be there? Its my first one and I have no idea really whats going on. from the car classifications I read I'll be running AS against freakin' corvettes and SVTs. I'm not expecting to win but to have someone to give pointers would be spectacular.
thanks

I am going to the lake geneva event, that day, but supposedly they have the whole airport for that event.
They have rookie practice runs before hand which most events dont have. An instructor goes with you, you can go as many times as you want until you are ok.
Once you register, and pay you will get your tech card, and choose your number. Bring some blue painters tape of automotive tape, so you can put your numbers on. ask the lady there where tech is, park the car clean everything out of it leave everything where you are gonna keep your car. Drive through tech, pop your trunk and hood. ask the guys who you can talk to about just any questions you have. TELL THEM IT IS YOUR FIRST TIME!
If you have any questions before hand try Erik

These guys are laid back and nice so don't be nervous. If lake geneva falls through I will be at that one.
As far as the class goes, when you tech tell them your index is AS street tire, and then just they just write it down. You only have to put the numbers on your car not the class.
Its not very competitive there, most everyone is on street tires.
Don't worry about the times, walk the course and know where you are going.
Once you figure out the course and know you can run faster.
This club is cool because you probably will get 6-8 runs plus practice.
good luck
