Default Wisconsin - Kenosha Area

Picking the +1 up from Gen Mitchell tonight around 5ish. I am looking for a decent / unique dining experience along the way back to Crystal Lake.

Many years ago I recall going to a place just south of the the Bong rec area though I cannot seem to recall the name of this place. This place was out in the middle of nowhere but they had great atmosphere and a decent menu as I recall. I think there was a biker bar to the south.

If anyone knows the name of this place or has any other suggestions Mucho Gracias in Advance!!

Found the old place but it does not sound as though things are the way they once were. Still looking for suggestions.

There's a lot of great Mexican food on the South Side of Milwaukee if you're into that type of thing and willing to travel north a little ways... I recommend Conijito's place on 6th st a little north of National (super cheap, everything served on paper plates but absolutely delicious) and La Fuente's on 5th a little north of National is pretty good too.

There's also a hotel called the Iron Horse a bit north from those two restaurants that has a greeeeeeat restaurant called Smyth-- the building is absolutely beautiful too and is certainly worth a stop. Check it out here.

If you like steaks I would go to the Packing House, just North of the Airport. The steak Au-pauv (or however it is spelled) is great.

Yeah, no problem. I did stay there one night when it got too snowy to drive home (may have been a little alcohol involved as well)-- definitely the coolest hotel room I've ever been in. Great beds, one of those ridiculously awesome Kohler Waterfall shower systems and excellent room service. The food in their regular bar (non-smoking, plenty of tables) is excellent as well.

Let me know if you try it out and, if you do, what you think!

Cheers
Charlie

We went to dinner at Smyth's in the Iron Horse Boutique Hotel. Food was excellent along with a relaxed dining atmosphere. Service was a bit slow but that may have been by design. I think our waiter said the place has been open about a year now. Overall the service was out of sync a bit between the several people who waited on us. We arrived just a little past 6 and were greeted by 4 different people all of whom could not get us to a seat in a place that was barely occupied. By the time we finished our dinner around 8ish the place ws packed.

I would recommend the place to others and look forward to possibly staying there in the future for a night or two.

We asked to see one of the guest rooms before leaving. they showed us alarger suite which went for $189.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Glad you enjoyed it. I do know that, while the hotel has been open for a year Smyth has only been open for a few months and they're still working out their staffing issues.

On another note, we must have been there at the same time yesterday-- I played pool in their lobby bar from around 7 until just shy of 8. Hilarious!
