Woodfield Firestone
Went there with DD. They tell me I need a new serpentine belt and that mine has cracks when I replaced it less than a 1000 miles ago. Time before my brake fluid was beyond horrible according to them, this time I'm in the green mind you I haven't changed or added any. Last time they told me I need new plugs even though they were just replaced by me, that I will let them have in case they were going by miles. Co worker that went there had a similar experience. Now I understand they have to up sell but at least do it in an honest way, on things that really could use replacing. Anyways I would recommend staying away or being weary.
Just because One place does it (up sell), doesn't mean they all do. Every shop is dependent on its employees.
I had a horrible experience with the NTB by my house years back, they installed the wrong battery in my car right before I went on a trip. I should have checked but oh well. They refused to take responsibility for it and I was SOL. Went back years later and gave them another chance, all new staff and they are much better now.
The Firestone by me did a great job on my alignment, gave me lifetime too even if it wasn't stock alignment specs.
I'm all for giving and receiving advice, but to say ALL shops are the same is like saying all people are the same. We learn from experience.
I'm sure the intention of the OP was to warn people of that one specific location, not to turn people away from all Firestone shops or any others. I hear the one NTB location is great for alignments, but at the same time, I remember other posting about other locations that are not that great.
I't obviious no one will care about our cars as much as we do, when taking it to a shop, keep in mind that they see dozens of cars pass through each day, and can get complacent in their work.
The only chain I have had consistant horrible service is Pepboys lol. I have been to quite a few of the, but each only one time lol.

Co-worker of mine had a similar experience at the Woodfield Firestone. I have no knowledge how other ones are. My S2000 only goes to Thalmann Alignment in Glenview, very knowledgeable, they know their shit. Only reason I took DD to Firestone because its across the street from my work.
Depending on where you live, we use a Merlins in Aurora that a friend works at. He makes sure you're well taken care of, and obviously because we know him, even more special care is taken. This way you get the exact specs you want. If you're not too far, it's worth the drive to get the service you actually pay for.
