Arrow 17's or 18's

Im seriously considering axis wheels. I like how simple they are and how they look. The question is what sise should i get. And how wide in the rear. 245 or 255. I have heard that 255's will rub under hard cornering. I have heard that 17's in a 245 will not rub and I like that idea. What have you guys experienced that i could learn from?

S2000 wheel & tire fitment guide

This should have everything you need to know... Offsets are really important on our car. So, make sure you follow those, or you will be rubbing. When I got the car it was running the wrong offset on 18" wheels. I hit a dip and the tires hit the front fenders and bent both of them because of it

I would personally go with 17" wheels. If you do go with 18", you will need to lower the car, or it will look goofy imo.

...one more thing, it will be tough to find wheels with the right offset, but don't slack off on this, if you do, you may end up with bent fenders like I did.

check prices on 18" tires also--you'll be paying more every time you go through a set of rears.

I ran 245 18's on the old S and it looked sweet! But it was also lowered 1-1.5". Ace is right too, it costs a fortune when it comes time for new tires.

I don't know if they made mods for this, but I know my CR comes stock with 255 17's.

As others have mentioned, getting the right offset is the most critical thing. 17s or 18s will fit. If you want to run 255s on 17s or 18s you'll need to have your rear fenders rolled or better yet cut. Wheel Werks charges $20 per fender to cut them, which is better than rolling.

I ran 17 inch Volk CE28s on my S2000 race car. Great wheel, perfect offsets and very light weight ... yet strong. On the down side they're pricey. I ran 235s up front and 255s in the rear with that set up. Like it a lot. I eventually went to 275s in the rear and with the cut fenders they fit fine and 245s up front.

I ended up running 18x10s all around, which required fender flaring up front. Russ and Russ' bodyworks flared them for me $500 and the work was beautiful. I'd do an 18x10 setup again for track with a high RWHP S2000, but for street I'd stick to 17s and probably just a 225 up front 245 rear setup.

Factory tires on an AP2 are 215/45/17 front with an offset around +55. Rears are 245/40/17 with an offset of +63. The new CR's are running 255/40/17 in the rear. I could be off a little with the offset +-5. Keep in mind the wider tire you go in the front, theoretically, you should increase the rear or you could be increasing the chances of more oversteer. Same goes with increasing the rear width to a 255 without increasing the front, you might be reducing the oversteer. Once you decide on the brand of tire, your decision on the size may be limited. Some brands will make a 215/45/17 and 255/40/17 and others may make a 225/45/17 and 245/40/17. Very few makers will have all the sizes 215/45/17, 225/45/17, 245/40/17 and 255/40/17. There may only be a couple of tire selections that come in that many sizes.

I think the offsets on those Volks you were running were at least +60 in the rears and at least +55 in the fronts. If you don't get rims with those steep offsets, your setup is going to look funny on your car. There aren't a whole bunch of rims that are cheap that have those kind of offsets. If you can't afford the price for new rims, check out the for sale forum as people are always selling them.

I bought mine used with bent fenders from somebody having too large of wheels on the front. I did lower it 1" and now have on 18X8.5 and they seem to be perfect.
