Look at this: http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=752574
That would make me tempted to keep the SRT-4.

Wow, that is more than impressive. I've heard about that car over on srtfourms but had yet to see a dyno. The SRT-4 deserves a lot more credit than it is given. The car is ridiculously overbuilt. They have an SRT-4 drag car running 800hp...on stock internals. As long as the fuel tuning (which is true for any turbo'd car) is good the engine is basically bulletproof.

You know though, the older I get the more I understand that speed doesn't equal fun. The SRT just isn't as fun to drive as an S2000....which brings me to my next question......

I think I've narrowed it down. My next car will be either an RX-8 or another S2000. I really don't think I'll go for an 04 S2k, I love the new looks but in my opinion it's lost some of the "rawness" that made the originals so fun. So I would most likely be looking for an 02-03 Sebring Silver/Red or a White with either the tan or red (prefer red).

The Rx-8 is a great car, if you haven't test driven one yet I highly recommend doing so. I can get one fully loaded for invoice no problem (GT package, navi, everything...I'm a sucker for gadgets). The RX-8 isn't as quick as the S2k, it handles nearly as well. The practicality and cheaper insurance (about $500 a year cheaper than the S2k) are definate benefits though.

So there it is, do I try something new or stick with my roots. The RX-8 is having some teething problems and from my experience the S2k is less reliable than Honda would like us to believe so maintanence and reliability is moot. My time frame for purchase is about 4-5 months although I'm known for being impatient so it couls be next week too

The SRT-4's are fast stock and can obviously be faster, but I have to agree with, speed does not equal fun. My STi is much faster than the S2000, but the S2000 is a heck of a lot more fun to drive than the STi.
The RX-8 is growing on me, at first I thought, they're alright, but it could be better. Now when I see one, I think of potential, some bodykits look nice on there, and slapping a 13B-REW or a 20B 3-rotor would make that thing scream, plus 4 seats to boot. The RX-8 is definately more practical, but I think the S2000 would make you more often.

I agree, the RX-8 is more practical but loses in the fun department. I've been throuh a lot of cars and the S2K is the only one that makes me everyday and I love to all the time. My friend here has an RX-8 and races in the SCCA. He gave me a ride and it was nice and comfortable, but I could see the novelty wearing off very quickly. It's not as sporty in my opinion. And the more I look at them the more I don't like the body style. Maybe Trent will give you a ride with the 4.77 gears and that should definitely sway you back to the S2K. Good luck and I'll keep my eyes open for an S2K for ya .

Hey, with numbers like those, he'll be able to hook up with all the girls he wants.
Seriously though, traction would be a huge issue, especially if he has the '03 model with no limited-slip differential. My guess to your question Mike, no, not at all. But it makes for one helluva burnout.

Traction is definately an issue, especially with the immense power. Suprisingly though the SRT hooks up extremely well. With a good set of motor mounts and slicks he should have no problem whatsoever. Ease off the line at around 2750rpm and as soon as the tires catch then punch it.

Well guys, I think I may have decided on a car...unfortunately, it's not the S2000.

I love the S2000, it's definately my #1 choice for performance, but it is just too impractical for what I need. Basically I need a car to haul fat rich people around and the last thing most fat rich people want to be is confined. So it looks like barring any unforseen issues that the RX-8 is gonna be the new toy. I'm thinking either Red w/ red & black interior or Black (ya ya, I know I never said another black but it looks so good) w/ black & tan interior.

...wish me luck!
