Default Engine help

So I bought an s2000 last week with high hopes and ended up with another car that can't currently be driven. I'm having a problem with low oil pressure, and might have already damaged it by driving it that way. Does anyone know a shop in Utah that specializes in this sort of car that I could go to? The motor might need to be rebuilt or swapped and I'm not sure that I have to tools and/or experience necessary.

Can you clarify how you know you drove it with low oil pressure? Also what year is the car.

Its a 2000, and I started to notice a flickering oil light at stoplights when the engine was warmed up (idling at about 1000 rpm). I worked on the vtec a little bit to get it to engage, and after wards the light started staying lit at normal idle speed. I took out the sensor and installed a cheap oil pressure gauge. Assuming its accurate, the car runs at 10 psi when I first start it cold and drops to less than 10 as it gets warmer and idles down.

Sorry it runs at 20 psi when first started cold, not 10.

New find: im in the process if taking off the valve cover to check for sludge and was pulling out the coils. The coil for cylinder #1 (closest to cab) was covered in oil, and the seal on top is completely swollen. Posting this right after pulling that coil so no finds past that.

Continued to pull the head off and found that I was missi one of the five head cover bolts. The one right next to cylinder #1 had been sheared off inside and wasnt sealed down. This was the cause of the supposed "valve cover leak" that my mechanic told me about.

On a warmed up AP1 engine, what you have, ( 176 degrees F~3 bar water temp gauge) you should be at 36 PSI at idle. At 3,000 RPM it should be 85 PSI.

Dang mine is way low. I wonder if part of it is just that the gauge is inacurate. Are there any shops in Utah that work on these?

I do all my own work and don't know a good shop for this depth of service. Anyone know someone local?

Where are you located?
