Exploration Drive
I know how difficult it is to organize a drive so many years ago I found that if one just said there is a drive and they will come, worked pretty well. Don't mean to highjack any other drive going on and if no one else comes then I will go explore. In short I will be taking a drive this Sunday starting at 9:00 AM sharp on Sunday morning. Departure point is Walmart parking lot at the corner of Highway 89 and Skyline Drive. Located up the hill from the intersection of Highways 89 and 84, first light on the left hand side at the top of the hill(coming north). Two drives recently mentioned, Bear Lake and Causey areparts of the National Scenic Highway system. Both great drives! Alpine loop is very busy in the summer and better in October (fall colors).
Plan-
1) Drive out Harrison and cut up Ogden Canyon (National scenic tour route).
2) Cut over little used bypass road ("old road" before Trappers Loop was in)
3) Road ends at Snowbasin Resort (photo op)
4) Join Trappers Loop
5) Cut over to East Canyon using back roads, Peterson area (scenic)
6a) SLC folks can head back down the backside i past east canyon if desired.
6b) Real purpose of drive. There is a clearly marked National scenic automitive route sign in Henefer. I usually come up the 89 and go right (back through East Canyon). But several years ago I took the road less travelled. Much like Southern Utah with Red Rock cliffs.....the deignated scenic byeway.
7) I don't know where this road goes but it is marked as a Scenic Byeway but is not on th Utah or National Scenic Byeway Maps.
8) Road heads north and may be the early highway. North is good as it goes to Wyoming, real beer, and fireworks
All are welcome......

That's my drive!
I'm from Ogden and I do the old Snow Basin road/new Snow Basin road every weekend. Usually Sunday night, It's a great twisty and never any traffic. Today I used my wifes 335XI because she is out of town.
I guess I should check this site more often......I would have liked to have joined you.
