Restaurants in SLC and Ogden...
Since you guys gave a GERAT recommendation for breakfast, Ruth's, I figured I'd ask what else is out there. I was looking for something new and different for tomorrow(Saturday), but the best places are usually word of mouth. Also, it's nice to have a selection of places to take family and friends when they come and visit. So, name the place, what you like and where it's at...NO CHAIN's, i.e. Applebees, Chilis, or any other crap.
1. Bistro 258 in Ogden on 25th St....excellent lunch and dinner
2. Rodizio's at the Trolley Square...I'm sure everyone has been there.
3. The Melting Pot downtown SLC....fondue...and be willing to pay about $100/couple
4. Roosters in Ogden on 25th St.....good food and they make micro brews. Everything from burgers to lamb. You have to try the onion rings!
5. Tommy Angelos on Main St in Clearfield....If you don't like the pizza here, then you just don't like pizza! It's a great "mom and pop" Italian place.
EDIT.. forgot Boca di Beppo in Downtown SLC...great Italian food. Want something different, call and make reservations for the table in the kitchen.

If it was California, I could've named hundreds of restaurants. While I've been down here(last weekend, came home for 3 days, then drove back here in the S) I've experienced so many new restaurants. I assume you want something nice and a sitdown place. Bambaro's in the Hotel Monaco is good, but you'd have to dress up and bring $$$. Mizumi is a good Japanese restaurant in Sandy on 700 East and about 8500 S. I've been there a few times, nothing to die for, but good. One place I love is The New Yorker, you have to be 21(fortunately I know some people) to get in, but has excellent food, but is also $$$(my steak was $34, soda is $8). Market Street Broiler and Grill are great(don't know if they are local or not, haven't seen them elsewhere). Also Tuscany the restaurant owned by Mark Eaton offers some good Italian.
Mizumi is okay, like Trent said - but if you want REALLY good sushi you've gotta hit up this little hole-in-the wall place in downtown SLC called Ginza (200 S and 200 W - look for the gaudy neon).
You can usually get out of there relativly cheap, ~$20/person if you don't go overboard. You /must/ order the Mars Twist and the Miya Roll, and then whatever else suits your taste.

Out Ogden Way:
1) Ruby River on Riverdale Road
2) The Timbermine
3) Personally I love Dai En Kote
They have an awesome Sushi bar. It is kind of like a poor mans BeniHanna.....but it is my favorite place and believe it is an undiscovered Jewel. Corner of Harrison and Washington.

. Although, I'm sure they have more good Japanese food than just sushi...

Ichiban on 4th E and 350S is the place for sushi. There's also Shogun on 3rd S and Main, and Happy Sumo in the Gateway.
The Blue Iguana is good mexican food that's downtown by the Salt Palace.
For some good italian there's Michelangelos in sugar house.
Thai food is Bankok Thai
For more upscale there's the Metropolitan, The Roof (if you don't mind not being able to have a drink with diner), Martine, Rivers, Tuscany.. that's all off the top of my head..

Japanese: Suehiro (Ft. Union and 1300) Happy Sumo in Gateway is good, too.
Eclectic: Tiburon: 8300 S, 700 E - I'll claim it's the best restaurant in SLC
Indian: Royal India (1300 E & 103rd S) or the one up on Foothill
Pizza: The Pie (near the U or on Ft. Union near WalMart)
Fleming's in Gateway does good steak, has a good wine list.
