Default Snap go the wheel studs!

The driver's side front wheel came off the car on the way back from Wendover last Sun. Thanks to the Mendii for the pics!

If youl'd like a complete failure analysis of the studs "gratis"....please PM me. I have excellent connections. I tried this with the membership at Comptech when the brackets were breaking but never was able to get a bracket from a member. Seems you had to return the broken one to get a new one. I contacted Mike B. but was told they had a competent metallurgist. Still would like one of those broken brackets. Anyways let me know and I can tell you if its a defective stud, fatigue, etc.

Sorry to hear about this Mike. Good luck getting it sorted out. Also, thanks for stopping by Saturday for the group drive.

Thanks Utah, appreciate the offer! State Farm is covering the damage, so no worries there ... but it might be interesting to get a clearer idea of what happened.

I called Modern Garage today to get my 4.77 Rear Gear installed and they said your car was there. When my other parts get installed on Friday, hopefully I'll see it. If you need something, let me know. Again, sorry to hear about this.

Nobody got hurt. We did pretty well out in Wendover. It was the best, longest, fastest auto-x course ever ... spent a fair bit of time in 3rd gear!

Great to hear you ordered the 4.77 gears! Our car will be at Modern through next Friday, then it's off to the body shop.

I just went to Modern Garage today, and it looks hurt, but repairable. I have the 4.77 Gears, but I think it'll be awhile before I get it installed, because I have been convinced by JP to get the Comptech Reinforced Differential Housing. It's gonna cost 4 digits to install, buy the Comptech piece, install and tune Yellow Box. That doesn't come easily to me, so it may take a few weeks, but I am extremely excited for the gears.

Bummer about the studs. Overtorque?

Those pics, btw are excellent. I wish I had some good action shots of me auto-xing

I'd really like to know how the 4.77s work out... if it saves me a downshift or two to first that would be cool...
