Visiting Ogden
Hey Ogden residents, I will be visiting Ogden (Hill AFB) bewteen June 27-30 for business purposes. I was just wondering if I could get a few pointers from the locals, or maybe people who have been there before, on what sites to see, places to eat, bars to visit, and stuff like that. Is there anything I have to eat, drink or see that can not be found anywhere else? Just wanted to make the most of my trip and figured I would reach out to some fellow S2K owners for some advise. Thanks.

I wish I could take my S, but I'll be flying in. My squadron authorized me a rental car so at least I'll be able to get around. Thanks for the info, I'll have to stop in that bar and have a few drinks while I'm there.

Utah
Utah is a big outdoors area. If you like hiking or Mtn Biking there are a lot of places to be seen. The bars around the Ogden area are kind of lame. (Never have been to the shooting star). SLC has plenty of good bars though. I would eat at Maddox in Brigham city. Take a drive up Weber Canyon, Up trappers loop, Down old snow basin down through ogden canyon. Go see temple square in SLC (some good bars a little ways down the road from there.) Maybe head up to bear lake for a drive. Smith and Edwards in North Ogden area is a really unique store. A lot of cowboy stuff there.
In one full day you could start with an early drive over the weber/ogden canyon drive head over to smith and edwards then to brigham city for lunch at Maddox then up towards logan to have a raspberry shake at bear lake then back down and stop at the cheese factories. Boom one full day.

@ utah s2k: That sounds cool man. I don't have a full free day unfortunatley, more like pieces of days while I'm there, but I would love to see the area with what time i do have if you feel up to it.
@ ofire: Thanks for all the great info. Can't wait to check out the area. I like being out doors but I'm bumbed I will only be there for a few days and not get to do some hiking or biking. I'll just take in all I can. What is SLC?

If you cut out the logan part it can be done in a couple hours. The drive up weber over trappers down ogden canyon takes about a half hour. You can do a hike up waterfall canyon in Ogden in about an hour and a half or go up Adams canyon in layton in about 2. Both lead to pretty cool waterfalls. SLC = Salt Lake City. Its about 30 miles from Ogden. 25th street in ogden between washington blvd and wall ave has a few bars and restaraunts. I think there is an app called iOgden if you have an iphone. Down in lehi (1 hour from ogden) you can go to cabelas. Its pretty cool and then you can drive the alpine loop which is bad ass, if its open that is. Or go to park city which is an hour away as well. Its really up to you and what your priorities are. If you are more specific I will try to narrow down my suggestions. I unfortunately will be unavailable during that time but they are all really easy to get to.
Ogden Area Restaraunts I recommend:
Tony's- italian food. Not the best ever but its cheap they give you bread to start and pistachio Icecream to end your meal. Dine in.
Big Ben burgers in Roy- Decent burger. Its been featured in "diners drive ins and dives."
Lee's Mongolian- Solid Mongolian BBQ really good.
Maple Express on 12th st in Ogden- Fast food chinese. Way way way better than panda crap.
Maddox in brigham- Fairly famous from what I'm told. Kind of homestyle cooking- best rolls and raspberry honey butter ever.
Alberto's or Beto's- Mixed breakfast burritos- AWESOME...
Cafe Rio- I think its a franchise if you haven't tried one try the pork barbacoa or sweet pork anything.
Green top Taco Cart in front of ogden city municipal bldg. $1 tacos to die for when you add a squeeze of lime.

Well I'm here. What a beautiful place. Tried Burger Bar and it was pretty good. Checked out 25th street and it was nice. Not much going on being that it is Monday, but it was cool. Man there must be some awesome roads to cruise on around here. Wish I would have brought my S2K.
